no player is greater than Arsenal, not even Henry.the club was there before him and will be after,so AW should not make any compromise with selling players(Vieira).of course
for rite price i would sell anyone.

No f****g way should we sell Vieira.
Only a handfull of players are even now better than Patrick (Gerrad? Emerson?), despite his s**t form, or even at his level.
If Patrick leaves it would seriously ask questions of the clubs ambitition. Players such as Henry, Cole and Sol would consider their futures, especially if one of their closet teamates leaves for Madrid.
This season we have taken steps backwards due to defensive frailities, it would be stupid for us to rebuild are entire midfield ( by selling Edu and Vieira), for the sake of 15 million plus Owen.

how about using money from Vieira sale to buy a world class gk, a world class CB, Owen, Gerrad and essien. That surely shownhow ambitious arsenal is

i still say that last summer was the last of that. vieira will stay at arsenal and personally i wouldn't want it any other way. owen? please... we can score goals just fine.

yes we can score goals but we only convert 1/2/3 out of maybe 15. we see again and again especially in CL that when TH14 is man marked we lose our way of finding the net. we need someone who can share the burden off th14

^ so? we ALWAYS score. ok... maybe not always as the last time we were blanked in europe was in moscow last year. however scoring is not a problem. if henry is marked then its someone else. thats a fact.

our problem is that the opponents score as well...

we don't need owen.

Money is avaliable for the first two without having to sell our capitan.
We already know that Henry cannot perform well with another striker, and would even Gerrad fit into our short passing game.

We need a freekick specialist. Gerrard or juninho paulista both fit the role sublimly

Lyon would be crazy to let both Essien and Pernambucano go this summer. And seeing as they are the best french team and will go far in the champs league this season I dont think finance is an issue for them. They will be able to holdout for big money on all their players.

As for vieira, hes still one of our best players, even though some fans eyes are blinded by what happened in the summer, without him in the midfield we would be beaten in games which need some grit and determination ie like the sheffield game.

Im also intrigued as to whether or not Vieira would ever think of going into defence, hes immense at corners and free kicks for us in terms of defending and attacking which means we can have someone new in the midfield like an essien. We would be so bloody good in the Air if we could have Vieira, Essien, Gilberto, Cambell, Kolo (if he plays right back) all in the same team.

If we're going to let Viera go now would be the time to do it. Owen + 15 million would really be a steal IMO. Adding the 15 m to the announced 30m Arsène already has to spend would allow him to fill in the gaps. We know Flamini and Cesc can play CM and Gilberto will be back as well. Then our strikeforce looks MUCH different with Henry and Owen as first choice, Bergy (for one more year cheap), Van Persie, and Reyes all being able to slot in.

To be honest I'd be happy to sell Sol to Juve as well if we could get anywhere near the money reported for him. He's increasingly injured and getting older. And let Chelsea have Cole for 20m. It seems obvious that Clichy can come in with little drop off for Cole, and Arsène would have upwards of 70 m to buy world class replacements at CD, GK, and a serious run at Gerrard.

If Vieira goes and Owen came in, we'd have to have a crack at Gerrard.

Only viable 'straight in' replacement for Vieira. If not, Essien.

I trust you don't believe R Madrid are going to give us enough to buy the whole shopping list above do you?

If they are maybe we can sell them Cygan and buy Ronaldiniho :p

We had the best spell of this season at the beginning with Gilberto and Cesc in the middle.

Like many others said i'd be happy either way.

Adams? said Vieira's had so many injuries he's likely only going to playing at the top level until he's 30, so losing him now at the right price would be good business.

On the other hand he's an Arsenal legend.

Nobody doubt's Cesc ability and talent, but how many games do you think you could get out of him a season? He's had a rest now, but he looked a little jaded for a while. Not yet ready to be first choice.

a year on since the last vieira saga, so what has changed? if the reason vieira stayed at arsenal was wages, are we expecting madrid now to stump up galactico wages for vieira? or are we expecting vieira to accept less than galatico wages?
