Trossard LW without an overlapping fullback ? Don't make me laugh. The thought of Kiwior behind him reminds me of that awful 1-0 loss to Forrest Away when both Trossard/Kiwior were ineffective (even when Xhaka was in that game). Zinny does not overlap.

Trossard wingshifts should cease, the guy should only play in midfield, no more false 9 shifts when he provides no box presence (think off when Jesus was subbed off during the 2-2 draw to West Ham in the title race) and how horrific he was vs Fulham this season.

It's either midfield shifts (which he has played all pre-season) or he's on the bench. If I could I'd let him go in the summer and recoup some cash.

Give me wingers with burst of pace and who are extremely direct on the ball. Do you want another Lens away with Vieira/Trossard on the wing and we played so narrow instead of stretching the pitch?

Pace isnt always the answer, you need a plan B and Trossy is that guy.

Sometimes (a lot of the time) it is the answer though and we literally have just Martinelli in the entire squad that has that blistering pace.

It’s a clear weakness in the squad and I think one that has been identified as well.

I don’t have strong feelings on Neto either way but pace is pace yaar.

We need pace with decision making or you end up with Mudryk.

You're wrong, no?

While it makes sense it would be an absolute disaster for our recruiting. Imagine Trossard starts scoring from there, they would need to do a lot of explaining on their summer activity.

They need to get Havertz running, not bringing competition in and I don't think he is anywhere near Trossard's level to compete with him.

In theory, you move Trossard into midfield and we have room for someone like Neto and everyone would be getting minutes, except for Havertz

I just love how Neto really attacks his fullback and creates chaos, a lot of these wingers these days just jink around and play it backwards. He is probably the best 3rd winger to rotate with Martinelli and Saka on both sides and give us that injection of directness.

We could go for a guy like N.Williams, or Cherki etc but not sure they have the physicality to impose themselves. Look how Saka uses his body in this league, it's so underrated.

I really like Neto but 60 million is a lot.

I feel the same way.

I don’t generally get into debates or conversations about price tags, value or what a player is “worth”, but I just can’t shake the feeling that for what we need (which is basically a Saka/Martinelli rotation piece) who plays a certain style naturally, we can maybe find it for less.

Stylistically, Neto isn’t a unicorn. So because of that I just feel like 50m+ is a lot.

Essentially, our only real issue is the players we currently have (ie. Nelson and ESR) aren’t fits stylistically or play with the desired foot. I feel like if ESR was more of an exterior player than an interior one, or if Nelson was left footed, we’d be fine.

But because of that, and because we have 1 or 2 academy guys who are just 2-3 years too young, we need to enter the market.

I take a different view - I feel that our squad is sorely lacking a guy who will run with the ball at feet and strike fear into opposition full backs. We have that with Martinelli but we don't have anyone else in our squad who comes close to replicating what Martinelli can do. I just think that Neto is such an obvious fit in terms of profile, age, and style that 60m seems extremely reasonable.

He would level up our attack imo.

I don't think Arteta would think twice to use him too which is the main thing. Our current cover it takes drastic circumstances for Arteta to consider utilising.

I think Neto would be first off the bench for both flanks and end up playing as much games as our first choice wingers if we did sign him. It's CL that makes me think we really need him as we have 2 competitions we care about now.

Neto would be lovely. But Williams on a free agent deal would be even better...

Sell Nketiah and bring in Ferguson in the summer. Job done!

I agree, Neto at that fee wouldn’t be my first choice. Neither would Nico Williams on a free transfer (I think he’s close to renewing with Bilbao).

I’d say Kubo’s ceiling is higher than the both of them imo. Won’t be an easy deal to do though as Real Madrid are circling. Only thing that could work in our favour is if Tierney proves his worth at Sociedad.

Does anyone watch Bilbao matches and follow Nico?
Because, for example, even videos on YouTube are not impressive.
All the cheese is in the fact that it's free. But now we need quality.

I really like Neto, but let's not ignore thr fact that he isn't an output machine. I don't think we can afford a striker, a wide player, payment for Raya.

Forward line

Lw: Martinelli/ Trossard
Rw: Saka/ Jesus
Cf: big name striker/ Jesus/ Havertz

Sell Eddie and Nelson.
We really don’t need much else for the squad right now outside a CF and a Winger. Only other position would be LCM considering we don’t resolve that area internally.

We can fetch £40-50m from Nketiah and Nelson which will almost pay for Neto. That’s not including ESR who I doubt has a future here at this stage.
