Only problem with Ospina is that we should really be using that squad space to get in a free ‘home grown’ player now that Ramsey is off.

Weird that Cech is retiring now, thought his been decent. Maybe his body can’t cope with the demands of being a modern ball playing keeper?

Still Pining for Wenger
Imagine what would have been if we had gotten him in 2002 or 2003 was it?

We were linked to John Terry in those days as well.

It would have been a decade of Cech at the back, no worrying about Almunia, Fabianski or Mannone. Sure we wouldn't have had Lehman but Cech would have served us far longer.

Wonder if we'll keep Martinez now? Get rid of Ospina and we've got enough wages to get a quality outfield player.

Cech had a great first season for us before a year training with Peyton showed in his second season.

Arguably the greatest goalkeeper of the Premier League Era. Right there with Seaman and Schmeichel. He was still the best goalkeeper at Chelsea when they let him come to Arsenal, but they were afraid they'd lose Courtois if they didn't let him play (now they have anyway). Absolutely magnificent his first season with the Gunners. Pretty damn good his second. Would still be playing right now if it weren't for the demands of ball playing.

Sure wish the club would offer him a coaching role. I'd love to see him stick around. Maybe Chelsea will. But whatever he does, I'll appreciate his time here and watching him throughout his magnificent career.

we could always hang on to Ospina

Ospina's contract runs out this summer.

Silly of him to say that he's surplus to requirements in a press conference as it weakens our negotiating hand and also creates a problem if he actually needs Ospina for next season

If for whatever reason they don't buy him then he still has a year to go on his contract here.

They are obligated to buy him if he plays 25 games, which he will unless he's injured. There are even reports they want to go ahead and get it done this month and sign him to a long-term extension.
