League is very weak
You have to think Jones to Arsenal was never really on the cards with talk of Blackburn always holding out for 20Mish.

16M is a steal for Jones so 25M seems more reasonable in todays financial climate. In any case, even if the deal is called off with 25M price tag we're out of the picture I'm afraid.

No its not. Its still massive money. For £25m its daylight robbery.

When the likes of Carroll and Henderson are worth 35M and 20M it is...

Throwing about other bad deals doesn't make this a good deal. Its just alot of really bad business.

No, transfer market dictates the prices and there's no such thing as bad business when players haven't even started to justify investment made in to them.

Those deals aren't representative of the market as a whole though, they are 2 signings made by 1 club.

They are representative as they establish a precedent, selling clubs can now demand more money because someone else was ready to pay xy for a English U21 international.

Feel like its a mixture of potential changes in squad composition in the future and also a greater demand for burgeoning talents that have the capability of altering the success of a football club at large. These boys are being pitched as future franchise players that must be sought for before their out of range. Carroll is a clear example of this. How Milner or Henderson attracted such demand I don't know.

That is not how things work. If it was we'd be able to cash in on Gibbs and sign someone good instead.

Hardly a comparable situation, Gibbs is a squad player and injury prone to boot, where on the other hand Carroll and Jones were main players and stand out performers in their previous clubs.

Jones really wasn't a stand out performer. Its amazing how overrated he's become within a month.

When you look at people who are successful, you will find that they aren’t the people who are motivated, but have consistency in their motivation.
