Reminds me of last RvP season with us, hope Auba can get us top 4 as well
Auba playing as an inside forward doesn’t change his role much but allows things to stick upfront.
I agree with you that Auba’s numbers are fantastic but his hold-up and general play are abysmal. If we play Auba CF in a front three then we need a number ten.
I think he would still hit the right numbers as inside forward. The problem when both him and Laca playing is that we get the ball forward but we can't create chances against the settled defence. The more I think of everything, the more problems I come up with how our midfield functions, both talent and formation wise. The midfield incompetence to defend or attack properly is simply shambolic for a club of this size.
he is our only good player...
But the AM geniuses want to shift him out wide for this made up hold up player Lacazette is so good at supposedly. Lacazette is just as much of an in the box player as Auba but apparently he's the black Benzema.
Imagine him in one of Wenger’s old teams that created 20 chances at home regularly. He’s a 40 goal scorer, held back by our negatice tactics.
His hold up play is somewhat overrated but Auba's is non existent.
Our attack is even worse than usual without Laca, especially as Unai Emery Etxegoien refuses to use a no10 to link midfield and attack.
If I want to call him a bum I should be able to ffs!
Educate me pls
Ideal runner off the ball for peak Cesc.
Why has everything suddenly become about linking the midfield to the attack via a position or a certain type of player?
What happened to just passing and moving off the ball. Pass between the lines, dribble past players, move into space and you don't need some specialist creator.
Cross between Firminio and Benzema I read the other day on here.
It’s his name.
True, but that's not working for us. I also think that's quite fanciful in theory.
Every top club has a forward that drops to fills that half space or a midfielder who is slightly more advanced than the others.
I guess that's why people say: the ball moves faster than the man or however it is they say it.
Mate, it's the forums autocorrect if you try to call him b u m e r y.
He's a strange one , at the same time he wanted Lacazette to drop deep and fulfill that role , man is a very good striker but he was mediocre at best at fulfilling that role and half the time the oppsoition would break on us on Laca's bad touch . Resulting in us not being good in defence nor attack .
Seems to be that he's developing Torreira as that link. tbh, could be the only way Torreira establishes himself long-term at Arsenal anyway because I haven't seen much more than ordinary for other roles in CM, esp. for PL. Until/unless we do something in the transfer market this is his quasi-replacement for Özil. Just how I see it, don't blame the messenger. lol.
I can tell you right now that will not work.
Kinda like he wants Lucas to break up play and help in the buildup from the top somehow...
Saw a tweet the other day that Lucas avg passes at Samp was something around 68ish and at his last games it was something like 15ish?
