It’s painful watching Rogers score on his debut then put a nice performance getting an assist + heavily contributing to a goal with a very nice pass to Hato.

There is a small chance Chelsea are competing with us this season, due to their attack + 1 game a week. Rogers closed the gap between them and us.

We scoffed at him but considering we had no other realistic targets, that was a massive **** up.

Tbf I don't think anyone scoffed at Rogers. It was the price that made people scoff - most recognize he's a top player.

Lots of people did scoff at him because they didn’t want him for LW. It was about the position fit.

Yeah that's fair, I do recall those discussions but honestly thought it was dumb because he nominally played off the LW at Villa loads. Could have easily done the same role for us.

We will never get an answer whether he is a LW because he is playing almost exactly the same role at Chelsea now, Left AM.

Anyway, the last time we lost to these lot was August 2021 at home. Lukaku scored early, James added a 2nd for Tuchel's team and then they just coasted to victory. We won our next 4 home matches since with a whopping agg of 11-2, but has an average record at the Bridge, having not won since 2022.

Playtime is over. We need to slap those losers in blue and put them back in their place. I’d take out Ødegaard and White, both of whom were poor against Villa. Kai was poor too, but I don't trust Gyökeres against a back three. Fancy Eze to score if he starts, and then Tzolis can come in for his redemption arc against tired legs. That Chelsea team can't defend and it's quite short. If we launch crosses into their box, they'll eventually crumble from the pressure.

Edit: just remembered that Mosquera died. We’ll need White in the starting lineup.

Nothing in football has 0% chance. Even Cape Verde can keep a clean sheet against Spain.

But looking at how Chelsea set up, Henry analysed them perfectly. They leave a lot of gaps in midfield and defence, as all the players are not yet accustomed to his formation and tactics. Brighton could have scored like 5 had their final ball been better.

We have to be really really really off form to struggle against them. The way they setup suits us well. There's a good chance of a good performance here to set an early marker.
Yes I think so too. But Alonso is not stupid so I am sure he will change something for this game.

That time of the year again when Chelsea fans think they’ve won the transfer window and title within the space of 2 GWs. Reality check required:

For all their spending, they last time they beat us was 2021.

Alonso isn't the park the bus type which will definitely play into our hands. And their attack won't be enough to outscore us especially since we have the far superior midfield and defence.
