Really? We're playing a whole different way and players are being hooked before the 70 min mark, not sure how you think any of this.
Yeah, there’s some differences, but the all out attack philosophy which sometimes leads to getting hit on the counter is very evident.

Klopp and Pep have the quality at the back and in defensive midfield to deal with that swashbuckling attacking style of play. Certainly now VVD has arrived. We don’t yet. But maybe in another couple of windows.

That is true. Emery is making waves though and certainly filling the shoes nicely so far. But hindsight will be 20/20 after 3 years or so.

Err pep got the players he wanted after how many years? And spending how much?

Look around all team are basically playing the modern day type football. Small and big. It's tactical tweaks from mangers and genius of the players makes teams better. It doesn't matter who the manager who bring in there will remnant left over from previous regime.

These days everyone plays with high line, pushing full backs forward and this is especially true for us because we have no wingers.

We need to play to our strengths. And anyway, that strategy isn't bad as long as the players are coached to react to its failures. Wenger, at least in his later years, couldn't coach a quick and effective defensive transition for the life of him.

You knew I’d disagree with that last statement.

Wenger had the best overall defensive stats in the league 2015/16. You can’t suddenly lose the plot in two years without getting Alzheimer’s. It was more to do with Mertersaker being replaced by Mustafi, Kos’ recurring injuries, change in in personnel in defensive midfield, and the loss of player confidence following the massive social media campaign against Wenger . . . .which ultimately caused the drop out of top 4 after 20 years and the poor defensive results.

It’s the perfect football forum, where we can all have different views and agree to differ. ;)

Emery’s doing everything right in my eyes and therefore he should keep finishing somewhere between 3rd and 7th. I’d be very surprised if he ends up outside those limits unless Sven finds an Henry or a Kane.

Nah tbh, I never knew you had that interpretation on that particular matter. Fact is some of our seasons under Wenger, like 2015-16 and 2013-14 IIRC we've played more defensively, that is something different than being attacking and still having ways to transition to defence quickly and properly with few players and prevent free goals. City do that amazingly, completed with professional fouling on top, Barcelona were fantastic at this too, etc.

I don't think I've ever seen it from a Wenger team, our good defensive record with Koscielny and Mertesacker in some patches or full seasons was usually paired with defensive or at the very least balanced tactics, never with an attacking approach.
