He’s only played there 25 times in his entire 645 PL career and 17 year old Milner wouldn’t actually play there consistently for another 20 years.

Facts. That’s pretty similar to Antonio Valencia, someone could have easily picked the Wigan version then shifted him to RB but he was a wide player there before he got converted to playing further back.

The opening match of the group pits two heated rivals against each other. Lots of pre-match chat between the two managers as they look to get off to a good start.

The game begins with Albakos FC dominating possession, passing it around confidently. Juninho is running the show as they look for an opening, and he plays the ball into Lukaku who holds off a defender. He gets pulled to the ground, which means a free-kick on the edge of the box...

And there's only one result in that position!! A trademark curler from Beckham and Albakos FC lead 1-0 a quarter of an hour in.

The Ducking Duck look to respond immediately but struggle to create chances against an organised defence. But in the 31st minute, Xabi Alonso finds himself in a bit of space and sprays a diagonal right onto the toe of Jamie Vardy...

And two touches later the ball is in the net!! Vardy takes it on his chest and side foots it past Cech to make it 1-1.
A slow starting first half ends with plenty of action at both ends as we head into the break level.

The second half begins at a similar pace, with The Ducking Duck full of confidence after their equaliser. Jarrod Bowen cuts inside to shoot, but it's blocked by the defender and loops up into the D on the edge of the box. Rafael Van Der Vaart takes a touch, shifts onto his left and fires at goal...



Brilliant strike to make it 2-1 to The Ducking Duck!! Petr Cech can only stand and watch as the ball is smashed into the top corner by the Dutchman. The Ducking Duck have turned it around after conceding early.

Albakos FC are stunned by the turnaround and send on multiple attackers to turn the tide. They push for an equaliser and up the tempo but fail to test Courtois. As the game looks to be heading for a Duck win, Albakos FC take a risk and send on Dele Alli for one last throw of the dice. He plays the ball into Lukaku, who holds Vidic off with his right arm and turns on a swivel to shoot with his left...

Courtois gets a fingertip to it but can't stop Lukaku's thunderous shot!! 2-2 and Albakos FC have levelled it with 10 minutes to go.

The Ducking Duck coaches respond to this by subbing on Heitinga and Kerkez which is met with boos from the crowd. They clearly view avoiding defeat in the opening match as the priority and they get their wish:

One of the most hotly anticipated matches of the tournament began with controversy after GDeep FC manager GDeep clashed with a female reporter at his pre-match press conference. The Birmingham native remarked that he'd said "for ages" his team was the best, before being reminded that the tournament didn't exist until a week ago. After telling her to shut up, he's faced a barrage of criticism but appears ready to focus on the match.

The match begins with tackles flying in everywhere as both teams have been sent out to leave their mark early. Alexis Mac Allister has a nice exchance of passes with Dwight Yorke before finding Bukayo Saka down the left. He gets his head up and fires a low cross onto the penalty spot...

Where Sergio Aguero arrives and drives a low finish right into the corner!! 1-0 to GDeep, who has a muted celebration as he looks to keep a low profile.

It looks like the goal has a huge impact on GDeep FC as they grow in confidence and continue to test Allison. He makes a few good saves but clearly needs help from his defence, who are struggling to match the pace and power of the opposition. In the 33rd minute, Alexis Mac Allister lines up a shot from 25 yards that Allison is able to beat away...

But only into the path of Frank Lampard, who ghosts into the box and smashes his shot into the ground which bounces over the outstretched hand of Allison to make it 2-0 to GDeep FC!

We head into half-time at 2-0 leaving OnlyOne FC with it all to do.

As the second half begins, OnlyOne FC look to bring on their wildcard in Higauin to turn things around. It has a positive impact as the team shows more attacking intent, and he links up with Thierry Henry who picks the ball up on the left wing before gliding Milner at RB into the box...

And he slots the ball past Raya who can only watch the ball nestle into the net!! Game on with OnlyOne FC halving the defecit! 2-1 with half an hour to play.

GDeep seems disturbed by the goal and makes a triple change to effect the game. OO continue to push for an equaliser but persistent fouling from the Brummies stops them from building momentum. They bring Edgar Davids on for some more composure in midfield, and it's not long before he's able to turn and find Michael Owen running in behind the defence...

And he makes no mistake finishing from six yards out to make it 3-1 to GDeep FC with less than 10 minutes to go. After a restrained celebration for the first two goals, @GDeep™ lets loose after what looks to be the sealing goal:


Speculation continues that he direct this gesture at the press box.

OnlyOne FC keep pushing to score, knowing that goal difference could prove critical at the end of the group. Thierry Henry gets the ball in his favourite position once and lines up a powerful curling shot...



But Raya is equal to it!! A big save and it seals the win:

Spoiler: GDEEP VS ALBAKOS

GDeep FC look to build on their big win and establish themselves as one of the favourites for the competition. Albakos need to keep themselves in with a shout of qualifying on matchday 3.

Full of confidence after their 3 goal display, GDeep FC start on the front foot and look to test Cech at every turn. 20 minutes in, Aguero links up with Saka and comes inside before trying his luck...

It's another goal for Aguero!! 1-0 to GDeep FC and their attacking exploits show no sign of slowing down.

Albakos FC don't seem affected by the goal and try to find an opening themselves, but lack the final pass. The first half ends without Raya being tested and Albakos FC needing a big second half to turn it around.

Albakos FC immediately come out with a quicker tempo, but lose the ball in midfield which leads to a break at the end other end. Saka plays the ball in for Owen, who controls and turns before finding Lampard who makes a late run into the six yard box...

2-0 to GDeep FC after a clinical counter attack and it looks a long way back for Albakos here!!

They huff and puff for a goal, but seem unable to threaten the GDeep defence. David Beckham looks up and slides a ball through the defence with Isak running onto it....

And finally Albakos FC get the breakthrough!! 2-1 and they're back in it with 10 minutes left.

Panic begins to set in for GDeep FC as Albakos FC start to press and force a mistake. Beckham finds himself in space again and puts in a tempting cross, but Raya comes out to claim just in time. They're able to run out the clock and escape with the victory:

Spoiler: THE DUCKING DUCK VS ONLYONE

Another heated matchup as the two managers have exchanged heated words in the press in the lead up to the game.

The ill will extends to the pitch as the teams get stuck in immediately, with the referee involved early on. John Arne Riise charges down the left hand side and plays a ball to Henry in the pocket, who cuts inside and lines up a signature shot...

1-0 to OnlyOne FC!!! Henry with a trademark finish giving Courtois no chance.

The goal gives them a lift and Henry continues to be at the centre of everything good they do. He holds off a defender before teeing up Luka Modric just outside the box, who lays it off for Bruno Fernandes...

A powerful sidefoot finish and OnlyOne FC have their second!! It's 2-0 and they're in complete control. There's still a few minutes to halftime but The Ducking Duck coaching team have already made their way inside to prepare for a critical team talk.

The changes seem to have worked as The Ducking Duck look a different side in the second half, and straight away they have a chance with Robert Pires on the edge of the box...

An instant response from The Ducking Duck and it's 2-1!!

The Ducking Duck sense their opportunity and send on attackers from the bench, but OnlyOne are able to hold them at arm's length. Every cross is claimed by Allison and every cross dealt with by Terry. OO themselves look dangerous on the break and once again Henry is a threat, as he bears down on goal and has a shot. Courtois does well to get a hand to it but..



He can only palm it into the path of Damien Duff, who smashes into the side netting to restore the two goal lead that they would maintain for the rest of the match:
