Spoiler: UPTHEGUNNERZ VS ONLYONE

The opening game of the quarterfinal stage is another grudge match between two managers who cannot stand each other. A war of words in the buildup peaked with UpTheGunners declaring his opposite number "dusted", and OnlyOne has responded by refusing the usual prematch handshakes and pleasantries.

The game starts with UpTheGunnerz bringing the energy early and pressing high. Five minutes in, Giggs goes a run past Glen Johnson and squares it to Le Tissier. He goes for the first time shot and forces a fine fingertip save from Allison. A few minutes later, OO FC are able to turn the tide and release Henry down the left but his near-post shot is saved well by Emi Martinez. He makes sure to taunt the Frenchman after collecting the ball!:

20 minutes in, Giggs sends a ball into the box which is easily dealt with by John Terry. However, his header take a deflection off Didier Drogba and right at the feet of Le Tissier who smashes it first time...



A stunning opener!! Allison can only watch in goal as a powerful strike smashes in off the underside of the bar to make it 1-0 to UpTheGunnerz!! The UTG #7 had ratcheted up the prematch mind games by claiming 5G signals could effect the goalkeepers and we may have just seen what meant.

OnlyOne FC to their credit are not deterred by the goal and respond quickly themselves by getting their forwards more involved. Luka Modric finds Bruno Fernandes in space, but his shot is quickly charged down. The ball falls to Raphina, who wraps his foot around a lovely shot that seems destined for the top corner...

Martinez is equal to it again!! And once more, he stands up and lets his opponents know about it!!

Just moments later, Yaya Toure catches a shot perfectly and just blazes past the post as OO turn the screw.

The pressure continues to build as Fernandes and Modric link up again, with a lovely exchange of passes before the latter slides the ball into the box for Henry. He shifts it onto his right and goes for goal...

The master has done it!! OO FC's sustained pressure pays off and it's 1-1 after a clinical bit of play from their superstars in the final third.

The first half seems to peetering out as both teams appear to be pleased with a draw at halftime before a dreadful mistake from Seamus Coleman. He miscontrols a simple ball and makes matters worse by selling Martinez short on a backpass. All he's done is play Henry in on goal, who takes it first time...



Potential match winning save!! It looked for all the world that Henry would score but Martinez does enough to get in the way, spare Coleman's blushes and take us into the interval level at one goal apiece.

The teams begin the second half by feeling each other out before Alexis Sanchez receives the ball on the left. He takes a touch inside and looks like he's about to pass, but unleashes a shot towards goal instead...

An absolute rocket into the top corner!! Allisson Becker didn't even move as the ball was past him in flash!! 2-1 to UpTheGunnerz just five minutes into the second half!!

OnlyOne looks to turn the tide by making some subs but his team are unable to find a way through for now. Bruno drops deeper to get the ball but it proves ineffective. Just when it seems it's not going to be their day, Trossard skips past his full back and plays a cut back to the edge of box....

Slotted home by Bruno Fernades!!! A calm finish right into the bottom corner!! 2-2 and OnlyOne FC have equalised again!!

Both teams make further subs as the game begins to get stretched. No clear cut chances for either team but the pressure is beginning to tell as Matip passes the ball straight out for a corner when it was intended for his GK.

The same thing is evident at the other end as Jagielka tries to usher ball out for a goal kick. There doesn't appear to be any danger until Morten Gamst Pederson nicks the ball off him. He's running with the ball until he hits the deck...is it a penalty?!



WAVED AWAY BY THE REF!! UpTheGunnerz can't believe it!! No penalty una!!

As both teams push for a winner to avoid the dreaded extra-time, we see some movement on the OnlyOne FC bench. Another sub perhaps...? Hang on, is there a pitch invader?!



@Trilly has appeared on the touchline and is remonstrating with the OnlyOne FC bench!! He was controversially removed from the team during the draft process but has clearly not forgiven or forgotton!! Lip readers will note that he was shouting the name "Cole Palmer" at the bench before being dragged away by security.

Back on the pitch, Yaya Toure attempts to take matters into his own hands and drives at the UpTheGunnerz defence but gets crowded out. The ball ends up at Modric's feet and he scans the pitch looking for options, when he sees Henry making an out to in run between the RB and CB. He slides it through for the Frenchmen, who looks up and squares it for Higauin...

Surely the winnner!!! HIguain can't miss from six yards out and beats the despairing dive of Emi Martinez to give OnlyOne FC a 3-2 lead with just minutes left. UpTheGunnerz slumps to his knees on the touchline, surely thinking of the penalty appeal they were denied just minutes earlier.

OnlyOneFC retreat as they look to hold the lead in the final moments of the game. UTG's pile the men forward looking for an equaliser, when Di Maria swings a cross in from the wing right onto Drogba's forehead...



Stunning save!! Allison just gets a fingertip to it to divert the ball past the post!! He gets up and screams at this defence to wake up. On the resulting corner, he comes early to claim the ball and hits the ground to waste some precious time.

With time winding down, Komapny pumps a ball into the box hoping to capitalise on the number of bodies in the area. Drogba wins the header and nods it down for Defoe, who catches it cleanly...



OFF THE CROSSBAR!!! UPTHEGUNNERZ IS INCHES AWAY FROM AN EQUALISER WITH THE LAST KICK OF THE GAME!! ONLYONE SURVIVES!

Yeah, thats irritating. Sometimes the not-yet-posted text remain in place and sometimes it cease to exist. This should be fixed but the owners of this site obviously couldn't care less about the users here.
