That's not a reason to close this thread.

It's a horrible thing that happened and the vast majority of posters in here have been reasonable. There's also not been much activity anyway since we're all waiting on confirmation.

Why would the thread be locked? We don't even know if it's an Arsenal player and we don't know if the rape even occured.

I am surprised that some people on the thread try to generalise the root cause of something as complex as r*pe as though there is just one root cause.

There are incels who get desperate at some point and do it. There are footballers who already have fun with lots of women and still do it. There are cultures where a woman wearing a short skirt is brandished a s*ut and it is considered fair game to r*pe her. Most military conquests in any country usually end with women getting r*ped by the invaders. Then there is alcohol driven incidents. The list goes on and on. Do you think there is a single reason for it all? I don't think so.

it was locked on the main Arsenal section but threads open with loads of comments on other boards since the news came out... just like this one is in FootballTalk rather than the Arsenal section

Haven’t been following this. Seen someone mention Ben Davies though as possibly being the guy?
Davies is confirmed in italy. Posted on instagram.

Of the popular names only Partey is left unaccounted for (there are reports that he was in training/germany, but the pics used for it are from past events, not yesterday). With the latest news the Sun gave (Happened in the mediterranean in june specifically) it points strongly at Partey.

Of course, it could still be someone else, but its come to a point where we have to be realistic that it's a very real possibility that awaits us. All we can do now is wait.

Not entirely sure what people expect.

  • ITKs hardly have a track record of being correct - there was the case last year where an Everton player was publically misidentified by supposed ITKs
  • Publically coming out with a statement on something like this generally increases the pressure as many people will just think ‘no smoke without fire’
  • Despite how it seems sometimes, the vast majority are not reading **** on the internet

Genuinely hope it’s not him - but if it is, and he’s guilty…hope they throw the book at him

Also just a personal observation - what kind of weirdo has an immediate response of ‘well there goes our season before the ball is kicked’ before thinking of the victim or the fact we could have had a rapist at the club.
Football fans for you, even after the Greenwood incident most fans were looking for 'banter' points instead of realizing how these athletes seem to get away with so much and sympathize with the victim.

The club could have killed the rumors by tweeting one pic of Partey in germany. Or he could have done it himself. It's looking grim.

Hopefully it all comes out sooner rather than later. The speculation helps nobody. But its understandable why there is so much speculation.

Speaking as a lawyer I’d suggest you lock the thread till further details reported - always a chance that something is said that prejudices a trial or frankly, the club/player concerned could complain about this, especially if it turns out to be untrue. I suspect some of the other sites that have locked down were effectively told to do so, or else. No one wants a lawyers letter!
