Will this make us predictable and easy to play?

From 2001-2005, everyone knew Arsenal’s main weapon of attack was our left side of Cole-Pires-Henry...yet those three still destroyed numerous teams over the years.

Knowing how a team will attack is easier than actually stopping it during a 90 minute match.

That was in the old days. Not in the modern days of video analysis. Won’t work against Liverpool again Klopp will be ready for it. Sharing such insight on social media makes it easier for them.

Players have brains. Point is in those situations we created overloads that had defenders try to stay in between 2 players giving Auba the space to shoot. If that defender commits to Auba next time because “analysis” Auba would most likely make a different choice which probably enables Tierney or AMN to score/assist.

The fact that we played it all the way from the back again is also a good sign.

They will stop the ball getting to Auba in the first place.

The reason Auba is wide open is because we're creating overloads on the right side of the field, and then quickly switching to the left when Auba is wide open. We then have Tierney and AMN making dangerous runs on either side of Auba to draw defenders away from Auba and ensure that it is a 1v1.

This move is incredibly hard to stop because it only needs to happen once to create a goal. And to stop this play they need to prevent either our RWB or RW from getting the ball. They have to stop this play from even starting because once it starts it is incredibly difficult to stop.

When Willian, Pepe, or Hector get the ball the other team will need to close them down, but when they do this it makes Auba more wide open because Arteta has him stay wide to create space. If they don't close them down or we quickly dribble past a defender it allows us to attack that space. Against Chelsea in the FA Cup final, Hector attacked this space and this led to Auba's second goal. This goal was from a counterattack, but same idea. When we attack the space the overload still happens and Auba gets the ball with a lot of space, but it is a little later in the attack.

Also, when Auba gets the ball, we send both Tierney and AMN on dangers runs into the box. These runs draw defenders away from Auba. Defenses could decide to not track these runs and double Auba instead, and I expect that they will try that, but now we have Tierney or AMN wide open in the box and Auba just has to make the right pass.

However, the move is so quick and Auba is so fast that it will be really hard for any team to have two defenders who are quick enough to close down this space.

We will be doing this move all season, and eventually we'll do it just as well from left to right. Isolating Pepe 1v1 on the right should also result in a lot of goals.

The goal where Pepe passed it to Auba in the box isn't really any different either

It's nice, isn't it? Nice to see players knowing what to do and that we have "plays" like that we can rely on. Auba can score those for fun.

Nice start to the season, albeit Fulham are probably the worst team in the league along with WBA and West Ham.
Loved the way Gabriel imposed himself at the back: strong and commanding display from him.
