Full back switch? Bertrand was suspeneded and Walker Pieters was suspended. Soton were were three of their four first choice defenders today and it showed. Still a good win though, we`re on the right track but no doubt we faced them at a good time today.
Thought it was due to injury. Either way the coach decided not to rotate on the weekend so it's his fault they were out.

Our press was asynchronous. I recall thinking this during the game. This was least involved game from Partey. Our defense was a bit porous. Our keeper was good, again. ESR limped off. Partey limped off. We don’t know when to rest and when to attack. We spent too much time serving crosses.

Clearly we're still miles off having good rhythm as a team. We're getting by on effort, skill, luck, but not on system and rhythm. But some signs it's gradually building. If we can gut it out for the rest of this season, bolster a couple of positions in June-July, we could be feeling pretty good next season.

I like the way we have been able to switch our CB’s quite seamlessly over the last month or so, mainly with one of Gabriel/Mari/Luiz playing alongside Holding. Interesting choice for the weekend game selection.

I was starting to think 4th was attainable, but in reality, with Sp*** and Everton having 2 and 3 GIH respectively, not to mention the other teams above us, it's very improbable.

People getting carried away again......

Nice result against a usually tricky side for us who had some bad luck with injuries. Had both Saints regular FBs started not sure we’d have won with our performance there.

Thought our defence was unusually relaxed, Southampton went through us fairly easily at times which was surprising considering they had players missing. Play like that v United and it’s a guaranteed loss.

Watching Saka’s development is the best thing I’ve seen here in the last 3 years. Constant threat, wonderful player & really encouraging to see that he’s managed to raise his level at different stages.

Any news on injuries?
Desperately want a full strength side v United, we’re better than than them when we’re focused and things click.

Will be so pissed, if ESR, Partey and Tierney indeed miss out on saturday.

Those wankers need a beating and we need our best lineup for it.

Good win against one of our bogey sides over the last 5 years.

There were some tricky moments, but glad we managed to see out the game and deserved the 3 points.

Need to keep the same pressing intensity against the red Mancs on Saturday
