Thats what Mertesacker is.Get rid of the underachieving failures like Ox, Ramsey, Walcott hogging first team minutes before these two.

I doubt Per will be playing much with Kos, Mustafi & Gabriel. A 4th choice CB like him around is a positive.Thats what Mertesacker is.
vital to what???? sagna is out there turning out performances for city and i can never remember him ducking out of a free kick but Per gets an extension. Was sagna's experience not vital or where we just too ppor to keep a player like him onboard to help guide bellerin. What does the bfg have to offer that kos cannot.Great news, their experience is vital.
nobody is doubting pers commitment outside football, all we care about is if he is worth the money the club is paying for his services.Time for Mertersaker to move on, but on a reduced salary, as backup and for experience around the dressing room he may have a roll but not on £900000 a week or whatever he's on.
The guy has a lot of guts and character and could make a good manager eventually.
Remember about this time last year he accepted an invitation to speak at a London synagogue about his generation's perspective on the WWII Holocaust. That took real balls, but some angry f*** on here said he was a still a coward because he turned his back on a hard shot during a match we lost. There's some absolute f***ing idiots on this forum.
we already have kos, we dont need him.People always talk about leadership when it comes to experienced players but it's a load of bollocks in this case. How many times have we completely fallen apart with these "leaders" in the team. Mertesacker isn't a Terry or a Campbell. Experienced, yes. Leader, no.
So that's what, probably more than £150k a week on him an Per? Yet we mess about with our two best players and even the likes of Jack and Ox.
Santi and per we're both just 1 year extension options that were written into their current contracts. No renegotiating. Completely different to new contracts with different terms.

Agree with @Garrincha , if Per is re-signing then most likely Holding will go on loan next year. Which is fine, he's one for the future anyway.
Ox, well should have cashed in long ago or sent him on loan. He and Ramsey are big reason why we always came short. You wont see other teams developing players like this for years. They sell and move on.
People talking like pers wages could be used to pay alexis/ozils. Most ridiculous thing ever. One players wages will have no bearing on another's being paid. The club has a wage structure (a terrible one) and that's what dictates who gets paid what. When a club has a salary cap that's going to be the main problem, not finding an extra couple million a year to give alexis & Özil a pay rise because per has an extra year on his contract.
Chelsea persisted with Moses and are benefiting.
Chelsea sold De Bruyne and moved on to their detriment.
The salary cap was in reference to the maximum we pay any individual player, not the playing staff as a whole.Aren't you contradicting yourself? If you're arguing that we have a "salary cap", then what one player earns will absolutely impact what other players earn. So keeping Per on affects what we can give Alexis/Özil, assuming we have a "salary cap" per se.
well chelsea are the top of the league so i dont really see any detriment.Chelsea persisted with Moses and are benefiting.

i wonder if the manager Arsène has a salary cap for himself, seeing as we are very prudent with our money. The salary cap was in reference to the maximum we pay any individual player, not the playing staff as a whole.
Having a 4th CB on something close to 100K in wages is beyond ridiculous.
