For the start of the new season, Arsenal Mania has relaunched the news side of the site. All articles are written by genuine Arsenal fans with no hidden agenda. You can visit the site via the menu at the top of the forum pages or go direct to our homepage

Additionally, Arsenal Mania is now sending all its registered members a bi-weekly Briefing Bulletin containing a digest of news and views from both parts of the site. Some of you may have already received the first edition and those that haven't should do so before the big kick off against United. How insane to have Ødegaard, Gyok, Madueke, Kai, Jesus, and Martinelli all out? Absolutely insane.

Fergie used to win a title with a makeshift defence for a period; we can do it with a makeshift attack for a period.

Why do our players keep dying all the time, lads?

Our style of play looks physically harder than it does with some teams. Example- Noni was played when Saka was out and went lame after not that many games. Now Saka is back and looking leggy after his recovery with no option to rest him. Arteta's game plan is working but some players need a bit more rotation than we've been able to so far.

I think probably the biggest part of the problem is that virtually every game we play is a *heavy* game. Because of our status as a top team teams a) know they have to come at us hard and physical to compete with us and b) are properly fired up to use us as a measuring stick. We don't have many games that are just no-contact deals the way teams in the mid-table do.

Plus so many games.

Plus when you're a possession-based team you just get fouled more because you have the ball more.

Curious what injury record has been for prime Mancity teams under Pep...similar muscle injury issues? I don't seem to remember as many as ours.

This has been my concern for a long while tbh. Whilst a big squad helps, this style of play just leaves every player susceptible to injury. One season, people compared Salah to Saka and pointed out Saka had played fewer minutes but the issue is that Saka plays "hard/heavy" abdcgor 90 minutes every game. It's why I hope for a more fluid attack to win games more easily 🙏

I think everyone sees the problem - our style has consequences.

If we are going to play this way and consistently have 5 players minimum unavailable at any given time, then sign 5 more quality players. It becomes a infirmary rotation plan.

I seen several players mention that the intensity of our training sessions is much higher than what they ever previously experienced at their former teams.

Positive of this is that should increase sharpness however this will also likely increase injuries.

This is why I believe Arteta has bolster the squad depth and quality so that we could potentially handle a large volume of injuries if that's the case.

We have roated quite decently this season. And its also to early to blame the system. Even if the system was heavy it should not be happening so many injuries early into the season.

IMO Liverpool under Klopp and City under Pepxhave played even more heavier systems and got awat with injuries.

For us its probably combination of many factors. Saka for example is the most kicked player in the league without the opponent getting a yellow card. He gets some nasty kicks every game.
