Just ahead of Brighton on the 27th of December, this is our current injury status:

- Mosquera: got injured vs. Brentford on the 3rd of December, where Arteta said it would be 'weeks'. Later, journalists reported it would be at least six weeks, which puts his return at least 3 weeks away from now, around the 14th of January when we play Chelsea or the 17th of January when we play Nottingham Forest.
- White got injured vs. Wolves on the 13th of December, and Arteta said it wasn't major but it would keep him out for a few weeks. Reports claimed he'd be out for approximately a month, which would put his return around the same timeframe as Mosquera.
- Gabriel: got injured in Brazil's friendly vs. Senegal on November 15th, and Arteta said it would be weeks. Recently, he mentioned that Gabriel is already doing sessions on the grass. A return in 2025 is not ruled out, which makes his return likely around the Villa game on December 30th.
- Havertz: has been out since our opening game vs. Man Utd. Yesterday footage appeared of him doing training sessions with the team, which means he's very close. Recently Arteta said we need to be cautious, but a possible return date could be the Brighton game or the Villa game in 2025.
- Martinelli: he picked up a knock and he wasn't comfortable to carry on. Doesn't look long term.
- Hincapié: picked up a shoulder injury vs. Everton, couldn't play yesterday. It's unknown how long he's out for.
- Also Dowman is out, but he's more of a youth player. Could be February before he returns though.

Defense is bare bones for the next three weeks, that's for sure..

Really just absurd. Most of these can’t be said to be overplaying imo either. Havertz and maybe Gabbie aside.

I don't know why we keep getting so many players that are injured it has been happening for years at our club even when Arsène, Was running the club we used to have a lot of injuries, I don't know if it is because we rely on a few players and play them a lot through the season so they get worn out during the season or if it is something to do with the training methods that the club use, But we tend to get a lot of players injured.

Heavy Duty Rom

I told you so
@Heavy Duty Rom will look at that and still insist we messed up last transfer window and should have gone for fewer but elite players.

If it wasnt for the new recruits filling in and doing well, it would have been the same as last season when we got hit by injuries and started to drop points immediately.

Of course we should have.

Whats better: A starting quality player with upside & Nwaneri or Eze and Madueke?

Say instead of spreading the money over 8 signings we got Isak (£125m) Rogers (£80-100m) and Nørgaard. Knowing our terrible injury record when inevitably Isak, Ode Saka and most of our defenders got injured we would be playing kids and dropping points every single game. Instead the likes of Eze, Madueke and Hincapie deputised very well and we didn't drop too many points.

I don't even know how you can argue this point as last season should have shown you when the likes of Saka got injured we were a completely different team. The difference this season is the depth we have managed to acquire and any player (apart from perhaps Rice) and we are able to march on regardless.

I'm not saying instead of 8 signings. Zubimendi was needed. Mosquera was needed. Hincapie, though a little expensive, was needed. I'm talking about the attacking signings.

Interestingly, I noticed Arteta just mentioned that 'we haven't trained since Tuesday'. People on here always tend to blame him or the club for overplaying / overtraining players, in the red zone and whatnot.

So we play on Tuesday, have a training session on Thursday afternoon and then probably nothing else till Bournemouth away on Saturday. Doesn't sound like anything crazy.

Also when you look at minutes played, we actually rotate quite a bit. Even players like Rice and Zubimendi have played substantially less minutes than let's say Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool.

We had 2 out of 7-8 attackers fit at one stage. Saka would probably be injured right now if we didn’t get depth in attack.

I do agree that I probably would have preferred 1 elite attacker and 1 good attacker to 3 good attackers. However, this isn’t FIFA. Where was the opportunity to sign that elite attacker this summer?

We are as close as 100% player availability now. Mosquera and Calafiori are in their "last phase of recovery" according to Arteta. Which leaves only Dowman on the injury table but I'm not really counting him as part of the squad this season anyway.

Now we can use our full squad in the upcoming cup games. If we manage to keep our injuries to a minimum, we will be able to compete hard in every competition.

I heard on the commentary of the match yesterday that Merino, could be out for the rest of the season after the injury that he picked up, he will be missed if he is out that long.

He is in doubt for the World Cup, so yeah. He's pretty much gone for the rest of the season. I doubt he'll make it to the World Cup - and if he does than he won't be starting any games. Maaaan I feel gutted for him
