KIA aside I actually think our signings ability wise have been fine, albeit overpriced here and there.

- The changing of recruitment strategies every summer has hurt us (we’ve done it again)
- Edu’s inability to sell players or just accept what we’ve been offered for whatever reason has hurt us
-The capabilities of the manager has hurt us.

I can’t see us moving forward as a club until both Edu and Arteta are upgraded. Regression, tons of new but questionable players, goal post moving and PR overdrive will just continue until those two are gone.

Preferably id like to see the head of the snake the Kronkes cut off, but that’s never happening. Edteta moving on is the easiest and most likely.

Plus as lame as the Kroenkes are, they “spend” enough that we could easily get away with them if we just hired someone competent to run the club for them. Liverpool’s director has resigned recently and I’m sure Overmars would come.

I've copied the transfer spending over the past five seasons. We are third in the list but not anywhere near the top of the table. (Source)

This is an insane amount of money spent without any returns yet.

What would you think our long term plans should be? Do you think that the players we have can bring us back to the top-4? Do you think a new manager would help?
Excellent post clearly illustrating what’s happened over the past few years btw.

A new manager & a new DOF would be a start, next steps would be to get a new Chief executive, only then should we start looking at the players. Players on our roster currently are good enough for top 5, imo.

With the money we spend it's impossible to write off any competent Coach/DoF combination putting up a title challenge at some point, I wouldn't expect it consistantly though. That simply isn't going to be with Arteta/Edu at the helm but unfortunately those in power seem to be the only ones who haven't noticed it yet.
