That's the thing guys like Klopp and Pep downplay the idea, while Wenger flat out said he believed his lads could do it. Do you know how much balls it takes to say something like that? Initially after the Everton loss in 02 he was absolutely slaughtered for saying it, yet he stuck by it and in pre-season of 03 he reassured the players that he still believed it was possible and they ended up doing it. This was without huge world record breaking spending, in fact we just brought in a keeper on a free.

The achievement looks more and more remarkable the further we are removed from it because the media just expects another side to replicate it because of all the money spent, yet they can't. It's unbelievable.

Wenger was the ultimate motivator. Between 2004 and 2012 when we were bottom half table spending, to make the top 4 every year was probably the most unsung managerial achievement ever. The man was a genius.

I felt he should have gone to Bayern in 2008 or Real Madrid in 2011. It would have sucked for us because we were in no shape to lose him but he was still top quality and could have done great if he had moved on to new pastures. Imagine Wenger's philosophy with the team Madrid had back then. Even Mourinho had them playing good stuff.
