This is a misnomer.

If you ask would I rather have Henry and the team would finish 6th or would I rather have James Beattie up front and win the league. That's a no brainer proposition.

A world class player can't lift a poor team to title challengers, as we know very well. A good-great player won't sink a world class team to a level below winning the league.

Drogba didn't drag Chelsea to those trophies or uplift that team to new heights. He was a great player for them but that's about it.

Talk about systems, but managers and clubs adapt to new players. If Ronaldo decided to swap Red for Blue in those days then Chelsea's set up would have changed to accommodate him. If they got a better striker than Drogba then they'd have adapted.

Singlehandedly is also a bit of a stretch. In some of those games, we were outclassed from the first minute to the last all over the pitch. It was like watching Tyson vs an amateur boxer at times. Drogba just delivered the knock out blow.
You know full well you couldn’t win the league with James Beattie though. Drogba was a top, top quality player. Chelsea’s trophy haul with him there reflected that. He had a major part in that through his play, just because his name wasn’t always on the scoresheet doesn’t mean he didn’t have any less contribution.

Also disagree with your statement on a World class player transforming a poor team to title winners/challengers

Vary, Mahrez, Kasper were all quality and that was a freak season.

I'm not denying Drogba's contributions, just that there were better strikers out there than him and if Chelsea had one of them, they might have won more.

Do you think United would have been a better team if they had Henry instead of RVN? Does that mean RVN was awful?

Just before the West Brom pen that was cancelled by VAR Maguire pulled back one of their players in the box. If he had gone down the world would be a very different place and Trump would never have been re-elected in 2024.

God almighty what breaks the PL refs are giving ManU. Unbelievable! It's pure corruption. Them and Sp**s must get 10-15 pts extra each season from the refs. ****ing disgusting!
