Liverpool need to start dropping points, simple as.

I’m much more concerned about them being 9 points ahead than I am about this version of City being 1 point ahead.

Draw is probably best but City win is also good for us.

Mathematically you usually want a draw if you’re competing with both as it means only 2 points rather than 3 are earned and you can claw 2 points on both teams.

However, Liverpool need to be ****ing stopped and derailed. I want a city win just as much for the confidence hit than the 1 point difference it would make for Liverpool compared to a draw.

Football at the top level is a funny business people. Dont write City off just yet... things can change very quickly.

City are being questioned, so they will want to show they still got it.

We just need to win our game so that we can benefit as well, if that City win happens.

I think there are positives from any result but most of all Liverpool need to just not win imo. Confidence can carry a team a long way.

I'd lean towards a City win just to bring Liverpool down to earth but it might reignite City a bit so...

Would be incredibly funny for City to lose again though

Finding it hard to fear Liverpool, whenever I catch them it's rush, transition football, suited to early season. Not just with player freshness, but the risks teams take. Their last league game being the perfect example - there's no way in hell Southampton take those risks in a late relegation battle.

Merson summed it perfectly the other day, and whether it swings to 12 or 6 points first will be the decider.

They're storming both leagues atm, huge amount of pressure to keep that going when it going only get worse for them.

Tbf, they can't do **** without Rodri and in form KDB. I wouldn't be worried with them. It's Pool who must be stopped at all costs.

I dunno mayn, I feel like you can't ever discount City, but I wholeheartedly admit that I'm not as tactically astute as other people (such as yourself), so perhaps City's problems are on a very fundamental level.

Naa I do agree, I think 9 points is a lot; it's why I want a draw more than anything.

If I had to pick either team to win (and a gun was put to my head), I'd reluctantly choose City, because 9 points on the board is always a challenge to overcome.

9 points is huge. People are talking like it’s Brighton. But the 9 points mean we have very little margin for errors and have to go on an impressive run to catch them

For context we were 5 points behind Liverpool last season in February. We ended up finishing 7 points ahead of them.

We are currently in November and all it takes is back to back draws from them with us winning for us to be 5 points behind. You then look at it and say hmm, doable.

All games where they can comfortably drop points in. We've managed to get almost half of these games out the way already.

This Liverpool team are full of winners, they are going to go through a period of adversity for sure but there's no way they're going to fall off a cliff - they're here to stay. City needs to beat them (not going to happen) to knock some of the wind out of their sails.
