That Liverpool team were actually fearsome. Believe they hadn’t lost at home for two years prior to that game. It’s the stuff of legend that a young Arsenal team rocked up and managed to win it in the way that they did in 89.
Barnes should have held onto the ball in the corner. It probably still keeps him awake at night. I guess dark arts hadn't been invented back then.

Anfield is most difficult ground to get result at. Thier fans play such big part you not safe there even if 2-0 up. Man city even when win titles at Anfield I don't think they won games there

Villa played one game less and the intensity of their games were much lower.

We played Brighton, Newcastle, Man Utd and Sp**s in 10 days with Man Utd being a 120 min game.
Villa played Leicester, West Ham and Everton during that period.

So yeah their squad is more fresh.

We have a couple of days rest, these guys are pro's. Don't worry to much about it, they're probably hanging in a hot tub as we speak laughing over Kai's missed chances.

Summer of Cech will remain the worst until further notice/May.
Worse window by far was Mustafi, Xhaka and Perez. 100m down the drain. I don't know if it was Stat DNA that pushed for those signings, but that was worse than Cech.

Calafiori, Merino and Sterling is looking like an all time stinker as well, though.

Liverpool's maximum points tally they can get from this point on is 101. Honestly don't see them dropping more than 10-12 points. At the minimum, we have to match our last season's total

So long as we sign a proper forward, we're very much still in this.

It's simply not possible without some added firepower, though. We're on barebones already and whilst I don't think we'll lose many games between now and the end of the season, we sure will draw a ton with this attack until Saka is back. Arteta quite clearly came out and said the same thing, so I'm confident we can at least attempt to salvage this season despite all the horrors we've already had to endure.

That squad are definitely not centurions

Should be Liverpool's title to lose really. They have us at home at Anfield, and they have a decent points cushion.

Still, we're in it, and at this stage of the season that's not bad.

I know that's why I said you take 10-12 points off that. If I consider only Liverpool's side of the story, the only possible thing that can help us is if the fixture pileup with the cups and CL games start to take a toll on their squad, provided they don't add to it in the window. For us we need a genuinely high quality forward (two preferably) to hold off until Saka comes back.

You really don't see them dropping more than 10-12 points when they still have to go to the entire top 10 other than us and Forrest? They could easily drop 16+ points in their remaining 17 games, that's like 4 losses and 4 draws when they have a ton of hard matches left to play.

I'm expecting them to beat the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth, Chelsea away. Have them dropping points at City, Chelsea, Everton and maybe Villa. We ourselves could maybe get a point at Anfield, don't see us beating them. Would love to be surprised of course

I don't get why tho? Is it just pessimism? they've drawn 4 of their last 7 games, they're stumbling. And yeah we could definitely win at Anfield.

I'm 100% sure they'll drop more than 14 points between now and season's end, but we need to drop less than 9 which is a tough ask.

Their underlying numbers are still good, kinda like us. They were a bit unfortunate against Fulham (10 men) and Forest keeper had a blinder. Their chance creation is good but they have xG overperformers as well. Bottom line is we need to be pretty much perfect from this point on.

When was the last time we won at anfield? Our record there is shocking and even last two visits there we needed all the luck to get draw. And we are worse now with sh1t ty attack

Not that it matters cause the league will be well over by the time we play

Santi scored when we last won.

Strangely optimistic we can do it btw (as long as we sign a decent forward)

We won 1-2 twice in 2001 & 2003 on our way to titles.

City are an artificial club. You can't expect them to match records by heritage clubs.
