Hope you’re not classing Gravenberch as a world class player.

Lights have been way too bright for him in the CL and then the league cup final. Him Jota and Diaz have absolutely stunk in this recent run.
Thank you. Been trying to explain to A-M that he’s the ultimate Fugazi player, just spends all game looking busy like:

Honestly I’ll give him some credit for being a key part of a title winning team in his first season as a deep lying midfielder, especially as he’s only 22.

But PSG had him looking dizzy then Newcastle just battered him. Definitely not WC yet.

Edit: just realised you were talking about Diaz. When he’s on he’s good, had a great run earlier in the season that was key to them pulling away tbf, but he’a been **** since Gakpo benched him. Not really sure why he’s starting games.

I don't know where to post this but we have a chance for the Summer Fifa Club World Cup tournament.

If we win the CL...surely Fifa would want this season's CL winner in this competition.

That list is dominated by defenders which makes sense, it's a position that is typically less physically demanding than the positions higher up the pitch.

Depends which type of defenders we're talking about.
Fullback position is the most physically demanding, thy must run back and forth the whole match.
CBs not so much.

What did you expect from rookie who inherited that squad from Emery?
That he would immediately win Premier League or UCL?
He did better with that squad than Emery (who had 15 years of experience as coach/manager then), he has won FA cup.
Arteta needed 3 years as a rookie to build squad ready to challenge for the title and for me this is reasonable time frame.
We saw progress every season under Arteta, until this season.
He had half of season 2019/20, took over when Arsenal was 11th, finished 8th with 54 pts and won FA cup.
Season 2020/21 finished 8th, 61 pts.
Season 2021/22 finished 5th, 69 pts.
Season 2022/23 finished 2nd, 84 pts.
Season 2023/24 finished 2nd, 89 pts.

This season we regressed, due to red cards (we lost 7 pts in these 3 matches), injuries to important players (Ødegaard 2 and a half months, Saka more than 3 months so far, Havertz since February, White 4 months, many other players short term), poor recruitment in summer (partly Arteta's responsibility) and no recruitment at all in January.
I don't expect that any team with injury crisis like Arsenal this season can win the title in league as competitive as EPL.
Arteta also regressed this season, as a coach and as a manager.

You mentioned Tuchel.
What he did in Bundesliga last season with Bayern?
He finished not 2nd, but 3rd, behind Leverkusen and Stuttgart. With Bayern, Bundesliga juggernaut.
Look what is Kompany doing this season in Bundesliga with Bayern.

Let's be clear, Arteta is flawed as a coach, even more as a manager.
He definitely disappointed this season, he failed to adapt his tactics and he failed to rotate Saka and Havertz (therefore he lost them to long term injuries).
He is very bad in squad building, he completely neglected attack and he shouldn't have so much power in recruitment.
He can suggest which type of players club needs to buy, he can even suggest names, but that's it, nothing more than that.

There is a big question mark over Arteta, can he finally win the big trophy with this squad or he peaked last season?
I'm not optimistic and I wouldn't hesitate to replace him if some big manager name becomes available this summer.
But this will not happen, because Arsenal board obviously still rates him.
Lost some confdence with respect to Arteta and big titles but really want to see if he can deliver with a higher quality attack. I cant complain about Arsenal with respect to defensive/effort/mentality attributes, so think its still in Arsenals's own interest to provide him with an opportunity with an elite attack. Hoping next season is that opportunity.

24 points remain to play for we definitely gonna finish with less points than even 22-23 season when we finished with 84 points I think. Would be happy with something close to 80 points after the injures we had this season.

The remaining fixture apart from Liverpool and Newcastle all winnable

Since the end of 2021-22, which team has accumulated more points in the Premier League? Manchester City? Liverpool? Wrong!

It's Arsenal who have 234 points from the past 106 games but look destined to finish runners-up for the third straight season.
Despite being crowned Premier League champions in 2022-23 and 2023-24, City have 231 points from the same number of games while Liverpool, who are closing in on this season's title, have 222 points

Is this actually the worst PL season ever?

Liverpool had a hot streak and since then have been mediocre but they'll still walk in the title.

Relegation places decided in January.

Lots of injuries, lots of draws, very few highlights.

Salah's individual performance literally the only highlight of the whole season. Chris Wood and Forest probably second and that's saying something.

What a terrible season.

The season that Leicester won it was much worse imo. This season alot of top teams dropped heavily us and man city specially it affected the season as whole we likely gonna end season with like 10+ points worse of last season and man city could be even more.

But injures and heavy fixtures played part in this the quality of the football is crap and injures not allowing team to build some consistency simply most top teams need better depth

It's tragic how this season panned out when it was supposed to be an absolute walk in the park for us.

Tied with our 2015/16 season in being the most diabolical.

Yeah it's fair to say the season hasn't gone as hoped or even expected.

Its been a weird one. We started on the back foot by not signing a proper striker & also the Sterling loan has been awful.

We have been subject to some pretty suspect refereeing decisions, which have impacted games. We have also had a lot of players out with bad injuries.

Our lack of squad depth & quality has been laid bare.

Watching us before we take free kicks & corners has been painful. I mean, embarrassing tbh. It's just not us.

A few players have underperformed, compared to previous seasons. Nelli, Havertz, Ode, even Trossard.

The massive positives are MLS & Nwaneri.

We are still in the CL, although we'll need a big dose of luck to stand a chance of getting thru, but we hace performed well in it this season so far.

Need a big reset in the summer & some big signings made. We are not far away, in my humble opinion.

Arsenal Quotes

Right from his very first match, when Patrick Vieira was as yet unknown to the English public, he showed just how talented he was. No one disputed his ability, and he gave me the credibility and the hold over the club that I needed to take it in the direction I wanted. He and Emmanuel Petit became a duo that would remain forever etched in the memories of Arsenal fans.
