To finish 4th as an example -

City would need to win all games to finish on 73 points (wolves (H), Southampton (A), Bournemouth (H), Fulham (A) )

Forest would need to win all games to finish on 75 points.

Newcastle would need to win all games to finish on 74 points.

If we win all our games we finish on 79 points.

I don't expect us to win at Anfield so immediately we are down to 76 or 77 points max. I expect us to win at Southampton on the final day I also expect us to get at least a draw from Newcastle. Meaning the max they can now finish on is 71 or 72 points.

It would take a monumental **** up for us to finish 4th, we basically just need 1 win and 2 draws. Forest and Newcastle aren't winning every game, even City I think drop points once more.
The most any team around us can get to is Forest with 75 points.

We have a 20 goal superior goal difference as it stands, so all we need is to get 2 wins & 2 draws.

We have Bournemouth & Newcastle at home & Pool & Southampton away, but on present league form it's impossible to call tbh. The CL is a major distraction, so that Bournemouth game between the semi finals is suddenly looking very dodgy.

On paper you're looking at 6 points from Bournemouth & Southampton & scrape a draw vs Newcastle & Pool.

I think all teams around us will continue to drop points, & in all probability we will still finish 2nd.

Tbh, if it means we win the CL, I couldn't give a damn if we finished 4th !

Do you remember when you posted something that was full of decent football knowledge and constructive? Yeah me neither.
I remember saying we wouldn't win PL without any signing in January, specially no one to cover Havertz. A couple of week later he got injured so yeah, you got battered again

I think Liverpool will fall away in the second half. TAA, Salah and VVD all with 6 months left in January - some will move away on a Bosman and their motivation will diminish. If we're 5 points off them on New Year's Day, I think we'll finish above them. Bit of a shame we played them at the Emirates when we were mid injury crisis, but still.

City are hard to predict and always impossible to write off. They're kind of inevitable in the second half of the season at this stage. Having said that, with Rodri out for the season, anything could happen.
@goonerfamily Nope
I just think 9pts is a hell of a head start even if the team isn’t Man City. People keep saying they’ll fall away but it needs to start soon man…

I’m not writing City off I’m just saying they aren’t the biggest threat this season.
@db10_therza It didn't happened
For context we were 5 points behind Liverpool last season in February. We ended up finishing 7 points ahead of them.

We are currently in November and all it takes is back to back draws from them with us winning for us to be 5 points behind. You then look at it and say hmm, doable.

City home
Newcastle away
Everton away
Sp**s away
Forest away
Brentford away
Bournemouth away
City away
Villa away
Chelsea away
Arsenal home
Brighton away

All games where they can comfortably drop points in. We've managed to get almost half of these games out the way already.
@HagnSprayGooners Why didn't surprise me from him lol
People are in for a rude awakening with Liverpool. They're definitely not as good as their results have made out to be but they're still good and most importantly they're 9 points ahead of us.

We aren't going to overcome that. After the last two seasons, we should've known better than put ourselves in this position.

The catch up is just too big unfortunately. It's possible but my confidence in this team pulling it off is less than 10%.
@sdotzdot You were right
Liverpool 9 points lead is not the same as a City 9 points lead though.

If Liverpool don’t sign someone major in January then I just don’t see how they win the league really.
@Macho now you see how?
@A_G pointing out there was a 12 point swing between Arsenal and Liverpool last season after Jan 1 (from five down to seven up by end of season) has me thinking that current lead is not that solid at all.
@blaze_of_glory it was super solid
Yeah exactly this. I'm not believing Liverpool can ride this form all the way to the end of the season - if they do then we'll just have to put our hands up and say "fair ****s, you guys killed it".
@Gooner Zig do you believe now?
Not really concerned about Liverpool like others are. They’ve been good there’s no doubt about that however I’m certain they’ll give us an opportunity along the way. It’s more to do with whether we’ll be able to capitalise, at this stage I’m not too sure if we can do so.

Let’s see how they come out of their next 5 fixtures - City (H), Newcastle (A), Everton (A), Fulham (H) and Sp**s (A).
@2Smokeyy concerned already?
Trying to be reasonable here we really should win all 26 remaining games, rest of the league is actual dogshit and the couple tough games we got out the way.

Arteta needs to be binned if he lets this gross Dutch freak win the league ahead of him.
@jones 😂😂😂😂 Arteta did it
Our title challenge depends on how the January Transfer window goes.

Any BS around lets strengthen in the summer basically means we've caved.
@Sammy1887 you were so right
The other important thing, which City get very lucky with every year is having a last 10 league games that are fairly straightforward on paper.

Last season our last 10 were so tough, but we did really well. This season our last 10 are all very winnable except Liverpool at Anfield...
@HagnSprayGooners sure buddy
Liverpool Is going to win the league, they are mopping the floor with city. +9pts difference, they should do an Arsenal to bottle that advantage. Funny thing is all those retorics about the process goes to the bin trash because their manager is demonstrating how you don't need 5 years to compete and win the title.
Why am I always right :/
I wouldnt be as giddy mate.

Still lots of football to be played here, not just this season but this game itself.
@SA Gunner gues what
Every game for us now is must win we got tow really not straight forward games against utd who is a big game always big pressure in it and then against Fulham who got 4 points from us last season. Our players will need to keep pushing
@Yousif Arsenal we didn't
No way Liverpool keep this up all season and it's only 9 points, they're not City.
@BigPoppaPump you were right, they increased the difference 😂😂😂
So many parts of me want to say the title is done, but it's still kinda the same situation. Liverpool still have so many huge away games and I just can't see them continuing this form.

The issue is we cannot slip up. If we have two poor games again in a row it's done.
@HagnSprayGooners that's your brain trying to do his job, let him work man
As long as we're within 4 points going into the final 5 games Id feel very confident.

Liverpool's last 5 -

Sp**s home
Chelsea away
Arsenal home
Brighton away
Palace home

Our last 5 -

Palace home
Bournemouth home
Liverpool away
Newcastle home
Southampton away

I'm fairly sure if we can get a draw at Anfield we take 13 points from the last 5 games. Whereas I think Liverpool will take 8 points max from those 5 games.

Very long way to go, gotta be Kelly Holmes.
@HagnSprayGooners you didn't your brain be reasonable :(
Forest Vs Liverpool (D)
Brentford Vs Liverpool (L)

Arsenal Vs Villa and Sp**s (W)

All it takes is something like this and we're suddenly a point behind, yes they'd have a game in hand but points on the board over that any day. We also need to go to Anfield and I fancy our chances with the way they play and Saka back..
😂😂😂😂
Liverpool will eventually run out of steam.....they did today....they are going to lose more points... however
..we may too...this should have been our season.
No excuses what so ever
@Morning_woody still waiting
Go unbeaten for the remainder of the season and go and beat Liverpool at Anfield, doable.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely...but it only applies to certain clubs.

Birminghan City 2011 League Cuo Final? Yes

Leicester City 2016 League Title? Certainly

Arsenal 2023-24-25?

@Sapient Hawk you got it bro
Its a weird season, every time we drop points I think its over and then Pool drop points in the equivalent fixture and the glimmer of hope flickers again.

Sometimes I feel like I've got @Sapient Hawk over my left shoulder telling me to stop dreaming of the title and @SA Gunner over my right shoulder telling me it might just happen still
@DJ_Markstar just be realistic
I've been handed devastating blows on here over the past two weeks for saying it just takes a couple games for the pendulum to swing back.

Had people saying we will finish outside the top 4. Well folks, win tomorrow and we are 8 points ahead of City. Some on here expecting teams in awful form to go on crazy winning streaks whilst we also drop a stupid amount of points?

It's there, win tomorrow by any means necessary and then get a surprise over the next few days with a forward.

I want Lee Gunner to beg to be part of this fanbase and beg to be part of Arteta's tricky reds. I want him to get on his scrawny little knees and beg.
🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
And I quote - "after the next two games we could be 1 maybe 2 points behind Liverpool"

A draw or loss away at Brentford for Pool, we beat a half decent yet beatable Villa side... And it's 1 or 2 points. Yes they have a game in hand but now the pressure is truly on.

We are back in it. Please, come outside @Heavy Duty Rom
Brouuuu 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
You really don't see them dropping more than 10-12 points when they still have to go to the entire top 10 other than us and Forrest? They could easily drop 16+ points in their remaining 17 games, that's like 4 losses and 4 draws when they have a ton of hard matches left to play.
@DJ_Markstar lol deluded
“Now relax and monitor the forward market” idk man we’ve been down this road far too many times before.

That phrase alone should send shivers down every Arsenal fans spine.
@MikelHadADream I end with this quote that resumes every Arsenal season that somehow we always fack it up from the very beginning when we don't make the right signings. Like keeping GJ, selling ESR and loaning Fabio and Nelson without any single signing apart of done Sterling. Arsenal never had a chance with our poor summer and winter windows.

You need to reread my post lmao, I was literally saying 9pts lead was formidable and I didn’t understand why people were writing them off 😂 😂 😂

In all fairness, half of these seem like joke posts or 'I hope' sort of posts.

Not sure this has hit the mark like it did in your head.

Not even sure why you’re explaining yourself 🤣

You know I can tell instantly these days who has experienced us winning a title before. Had we won and kept the pressure on Pool when we played West Ham (A) we could have very easily kept the pressure on them, it’s not like this was a formidable Liverpool team. A few months back, I said I had a feeling we’d lose the title ourselves than them winning it and that hasn’t changed but fairs they won and congrats to them.

Edit: I do suggest the fella who quoted me to have a look at what we did to Utd and vice versa when a massive lead was narrowed and both teams were crowed champions in the late 90s - early 00s. Peak Barclays.

Arsenal Quotes

An Arsenal fan, when you finish fourth, will say, “Hey, we’ve been in the top four for twenty years. We want to win the league!”. They don’t care that Manchester City or Chelsea have spent 300 or 400 million euros. They just want to beat them.
But if you finish fifteenth two years running, they will be happy if you finish fourth after that.

Arsène Wenger
