Get a result at City next week and we’ll have got some of our toughest fixtures out of the way. Getting 3 points at both Villa and Sp**s is an excellent return.

With Merino and Ødegaard coming back mid- October we’ll be starting to simmer nicely going into November and Christmas which is when we’ll need to hit a nice vein of form.

It will be good to understand the squad’s capability during this time so we are not dependent on anyone

City go to Newcastle after their game against us btw and Newcastle look back in form.

That result may not have been as dominant as we usually are, but it sent the necessary shockwaves through the league.

Everyone knows that we are back yet again this season. And what's more worrying for others is that we are able to get results at difficult grounds without even hitting our full stride.

The main thing stopping us this year, apart from City, are our own fitness levels.

If we somehow get a result next weekend with our obvious slow start it is elite. It means we have 3 very difficult away fixtures done and still yet to hit a gear or two.

The result today reminded me of 01-04 results where we could field Kanu, Wiltord, Parlour, Gio VB and still get results. That being said, I think we got a great result despite the limited efforts from Jorginho, Partey and Trossard.

We have an elite defence with Timber and Calafiori as options now and Zinchenko not single handedly costing us 8-10 goals/season. Our best avenue to the title is to channel the spirit of the 2004/2005 chelsea side that conceded 15 goals all season. Dont think it will be enough but it will be on the back of our defence that gets us home if we are to win the title.

Our away form is ridiculous - 10 wins and a draw in 2024, with three goals conceded. If we keep playing so well away from home it is hard to see how we won't get 90+ points this season.

I can't see City scoring more than one against us, and they have been conceding some careless goals - no clean sheets in the last three games. Another 0-1 win? We would be top of the league :)
