Premier League 2024/25: Our Title Charge

People are in for a rude awakening with Liverpool. They're definitely not as good as their results have made out to be but they're still good and most importantly they're 9 points ahead of us.

We aren't going to overcome that. After the last two seasons, we should've known better than put ourselves in this position.

The catch up is just too big unfortunately. It's possible but my confidence in this team pulling it off is less than 10%.

Whoever hits a rough patch or not, is their business.

It is about us. Kinda like where we are right now. We had a rough patch in October. We have turned the corner these last 2 games. We have injuries. But Arteta finally has somewhat properly rotated. Good sign. Hopefully this continues. No more handbrakes. Wishful thinking because you know it is coming again at some point. Bad habits are hard to break. lol

But yeah, in the running not only for the PL, but CL and cups as well. Let's take care of business on Saturday and continue to build.

You're being too defeatist. If it wasn't for the corrupt red cards we'd be absolutely cruising. Our team is looking good.

That's what bothers me so much about this season. We would be absolutely cruising absent PGMOL. Can't get emotionally invested now because even if we manage to claw our way back to near the summit, do you truly believe we'll get fair decisions come business end of the season? No, it'll be the usual ghost reds and yellows against us, and teams will be allowed to win every 50/50 through fouls. Don't do this to yourselves people.

Liverpool 9 points lead is not the same as a City 9 points lead though.

If Liverpool don’t sign someone major in January then I just don’t see how they win the league really.

An injury to either VVD or Konate could hurt them quite a bit. 9 points is a lot but what gives me hope is that (1) it's still extremely early in the season; and (2) Liverpool have had a kind fixture list and have tracked their points tally vs equivalent fixtures last season.

@A_G pointing out there was a 12 point swing between Arsenal and Liverpool last season after Jan 1 (from five down to seven up by end of season) has me thinking that current lead is not that solid at all.

The 12 point swing came after February 1 💀

Yeah but tbf we had to do a madness and operated at a 100 pt pace to get that swing. That being said, we are capable of doing it again especially if Ødegaard and Saka keep fit and continue to dunk on the rest of the league.

I think people overstate the problems of this Liverpool side. They've got an excellent back 5, even without their starting keeper. MacAllister is brilliant, Jones has come into his own recently and they've got a devastating attack. This isn't a poor side punching above their weight like some suggesting.

I do think we're better but we've given ourselves a lot to do, and while I do think Liverpool will still drop a significant number of points, we'll need a run mirroring if not bettering last years run of wins to get ourselves into contention.

A part (how big we'll eventually see) of Liverpool's gap on us is the strength of schedule for the first 12 games - I'm pretty certain they don't accrue the points they have if they had started with our schedule.

They are good squad with a solid manager.

More impressed with the job Klopp did in leaving a good foundation for the next manager to build upon. It is why he stayed an extra year after missing the CL 2 years ago.

It is more wishful thinking on our fans part, that Pool's current form isn't real.

But, they were also in first last year too and we saw how that turned out.

Lot of season left to go in both leagues, CL and PL.
