How do City do it, that they have back ups for every position? For example, Ortega is incredible, but he's happy to sit on their bench and do the cup competitions, whereas Ramsdale would rather go to Southampton and battle relegation so he can be number one?

I feel like City have a tight squad but they’re all quality. Pep also rotates them a lot. He also seems to go through phases where certain players get a lot of game time and go on a run of games. It’s almost a special balance and art he has created to keep players engaged and happy so that he can use that financial doping money and have a super strong squad. It’s different to Arteta who is way more rigid with his team selection so far in his career here.

I think the rotation, the guaranteed trophies + his CV means players are happy to be part of it.

Can’t speak to Ortega though as the backup keeper 😂 Ederson has been flirting with an exit for a while and Ortega actually took some starts off him last season so maybe he is biding his time.

he wanted to be first choice instead of sitting, fairplay to him.
Yes, good for him. But I'm just wondering what makes someone like Ortega happy to be number 2. He's better than most keepers in the league. When Ederson got injured it was clear that he trains super-hard and keeps himself at the top of his game, because he was incredible

On a recent AFTV show everyone said that Ramsdale was a better goalkeeper than Sczcesny.

I mean, did they see who both keepers have played for
Not just AFTV, our own @Mitch said he’s the best keeper in the emirates era.
Haven’t seen him doing his pashun merchant stuff, trying to wind up the opposition fans during Southampton games… strange that, thought it was part of his “ character “
He should of focused more on the football here instead of being an attention seeking weirdo

I wonder how @albino is finding the St. Mary's player boxes vs the Emirates ones. I remember him essentially calling us peasants for not having seats in those boxes. Maybe he's saying the same thing to the folks at Southampton-Mania who are surely already sick of his boy.

Yep, he’ll be on their forum telling lifelong Southampton fans they’re not proper supporters because they’re not at every game, sitting in those player boxes, free of charge, claiming he’s more of a fan than them.
Atleast if he signs up to their forum Albino will have something in common with his son - their fans will be sick of him and his boy.

Arteta haven't had the team to properly rotate so far. We will see this season with the upcoming young talents and when the rest come back from injuries. Guardiola also rotates his back 4 very well. Switching pairs ,etc. Not sure if Arteta will be so brave to switch Gabriel for Calafiori for example.

Ramsdale level of quality saves he had no right to be making, consistency and how many points in the the first two seasons. Absolutely brilliant. Id argue Ramsdale deserved team of season in his first season instead of the second season.

We had some great shot stopper in the Emirates era in the likes of Szczesny and Leno, however Ramsdale in his first season was better than any season either the other two had for us (including Szczesny golden glove season).

This is how he keeps them hungry season over season. He'll freeze someone out one season and then make them a starter in the next. Foden was a bench player during the treble season, was a starter last season, and is now a bench player again. Grealish started most games in the treble season, was on the bench last season and is back in favour again.

Respectfully disagree. First season Ramsdale was incredible, just about everyone on this forum was silenced.. until we played Liverpool towards the end of the season and he looked like a bag of nerves and started flapping at crosses, then he was bang average after that.
2nd season was much the same - looked great at the start then by the half way stage he started making a lot of mistakes - City, Southampton, West Ham etc.
I agree he was far better in his first season than 2nd. Even his distribution was far better in the first season than what we’ve seen now.

Arsenal Quotes

I want a fan to wake up in the morning and say, “Arsenal are playing today, I’m going to have a good time.” That guy starts his day off by thinking that something good is going to happen to him. And to do that, big clubs like Arsenal have to have the ambition to play spectacularly. Of shared happiness.
