I think he means it literally, didn’t he have some kind of sciatica/glute injury? IIRC he missed the NLD and Chelsea away because of it.

I was at the game yesterday, and I left the stadium with the same bitter taste in my mouth after the Chelsea result. Some of you will try to find positives, but I can't join you on this one. Yes, we’re lucky that City bottled their game the day before, but in isolation, it did little for us.

We showed way too much respect to a limping beast when the kill was right there. We had bright spells in the first - both Trossard and Saka got the better of their fullback and then we stopped. It's like halfway through the game, we developed sympathy for the opponents and hid from the game.

Cant see how this is anything but a massively disappointing performance. A performance that any title winning side should be executing at home.

Its still ours for the taking to lose but will look back at this as a turning point if we don't win the title.

Not good enough IMO.

XG doesn’t win matches, scoring goals does. We have no goal scorers in the starting lineup. Doesn’t matter what we think we created or controlled.

I still think we’ll win the league but there have been too many unconvincing performances to say we’re deserving winners. The attack has been misfiring all season and the defence has had several lapses in concentration. Maybe we are due a title like this; where everyone else is a bit rubbish and we stumble into the finish line in first place. I'll take it. As long as we win it this season, we can fix the attack in the summer and Teta can buck his ideas up the following year.

Nah Bro, that's a cop out, we won the title 7 years before that, F what it was called at the time. At this stage we haven't won it for 21 years and we'll almost certainly beat 78 points in a harder league than it was then

It's much easier now, come on. Compare the players and characters compared to todays overrated lot

Also, was 78 points because first was resting the last three games for the upcoming cup final

I don't know man, it's a different game today, with far less time on the ball. Yes I preferred the football back then, but look how we usually got battered in Europe.

It's just how game theory works unfortunately when facing a better side in football.

Liverpool knows that we can't really push for a goal too hard because pool would actually gain a lot more from it.

Let's say you are a 1 to 0.4 xg favourite in a game. You could push for a goal hard and go up to 1.3 but doing so exposes you defensively so much that the opponents' xg goes up to 1. Open counterattacks are just really valuable and should be avoided at all cost.

We are the best team in the country, we grind our margins and will win the title because of it.
Everything else just decreases our edge AND increases variance. Which would be ridiculous. The worse sides want to increase variance, it's why they want to bait us into overcommiting.
We thankfully learned from past mistakes and are not falling for that anymore.

I don't think we were regulars in Europe back then. The games quicker and more coaching but this makes it easier, imo

...this is why we were crap isn't it?

Those shirts are crap. No original adidas logo or sleeves, yet they can have JVC still on there. Terrible. Edit - I can see the Adidas logo my bad, but some of the retro ones are crap.

I wish I had my 1990 JVC yellow away kit still, it wouldnt fit as I was 7 but I loved that kit. Remind me why we threw shirts away in the 90s?

I think Arteta made a mistake taking of Trossard. This kinda low tempo game where Liverpool were playing suited him. Bringing on Martinelli, and then both Eze and Madueke killed us.

Arsenal Quotes

I was receiving offers from many other clubs and declining them all, even the most tempting ones. Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG contacted me, Bayern, France, England...I am happy to have been able to say no to more glory, more money, and to have been guided only by the idea of loyally serving the club. I had knitted myself a soul in Red and White.
