I remember the last time we played Sunderland at Highbury... King Henry scored a goal where he took a ball in one touch, nutmegged the defender and then slotted it past the keeper wonderfully.

Thierry also nearly scored one of the best overhead kicks of all time in that game, took the ball on like the edge of the 18 yard box... generated all the power himself from a still position, beat the keeper and clipped the post...one of those moments watching MOTD that I just wanted to will the ball into the goal lol.

What a mesmerising player he was in his prime, made you fans all on how own!

Anyway can't wait for @viktor "3 touches per game" Gyokeres to accidentally get one over the line with his nose from a set piece here...the type of player that makes you love the game 💪

Watching the last match on ITV, Lee Dixon was just so depressing and grim to listen to lol...and I didn't know the game was also on Sky, with Gary Neville annoying the hell out of everyone there too ffs.

@A_G

I am tired of listening to terrible ex players on comms like Tony Gale or Lee Hendrie, so if none of the matches I find have any of these three commentary pairs...

...then I won't be watching and I will be expecting you to write me up a full match report, and have it on my desk by Sunday 6am...and no double spacing bro, that's not how professionals work!

Also OG did **** all v Chelsea, needs at least a brave here or we might have to drop him!
Really not his fault. Takes most guys a year or two to adjust to the physicality of the Prem. And we haven't been too good at feeding him chances - our other players just keep playing selfishly and scoring on their own. When they do pass to him he is always a step behind and it's gets cleared or ends up with the opposition keeper.

I know some guys on here rate Owen Goál a lot, but he's never gonna be a 20-a-season striker for us until our players adjust to his playstyle a bit more.

Our first meeting at The Emirates while I am at it...

...state of Almunia on that 2nd Sunderland goal, seen stronger wrists at the YMCA meetings I go to regularly ffs...and how unlucky was Diiaby to not score here 😅

Really, i think Owen could be our most important striker since Henry if we win some trophies this yr.

In America, we're stuck with Lee Dixon most weekends. It's definitely pretty grim. We do get the slightly less awful Jon Champion now more than we get Peter Drury which is a welcome thing but still quite awful punditry on offer here.

Lol there is no forward today that can do what Henry did. All of them are semi retired or don't exist. That's where we are in the world forward wise. We went from Ronaldo and messi to Haaland and Mbappe lol. Both perverts

If we happen to smash these (unlikely), city will know a defeat at anfield effectively ends their title challenge as they would need us to drop 4 games with our superior goal difference, while having to beat us at their place. They may lose in the tunnell before they even kick a ball this weekend if that's the case. A nervy 1-0 win and city will go there thinking it's still doable. Big weekend.

We have to take control of this title battle and build a dominant "fuk u" lead that destroys all potential hope for city. Preferably before our game at City.

Its been frustrating we havent taken our chances to build that dominant lead so far, lets hope this weekend is a big step in that direction (which past history often means the opposite happens).

Goal diffference is 3 goals (i think) that can easily be overturned in a title race so wouldnt be relying on goal difference to win us the title.

We should have too much for them at home but to channel my inner Rasmi, this is the type of team that can cause us problems, they can compete with us physically on their day (like a newcastle), so if we are off it from a technical perspective, its very challenging to break them down.

Be prepared for a physical battle. I'm really impressed with Sunderland. Very powerful team. Man, every week seems like a tough slog these days.

This is what makes the EPL the best league in the world.
