This is really massive. A win is a must imo. These sort of games, performance usually matters. It's the results that matter.

Arteta will have to learn from his mistakes at Old Trafford. We know the sort of threat Sp**s carry. Their midfield is dogshit. They have Royal, Sanchez, Dier and Sessengnon in their back five.

They'll put 10 men behind the ball and wait for a chink to appear in our amour and they'll exploit it ruthlessly and Son has just come back to form right in time for the derby.

We should have all our players back for this (save for Elneny) barring an injuries in the international break.

Lineup

I think it will be the same lineup vs Brentford tbh.

What we did at their place? Win a price? I would say we lost CL due to both results. And because we didn't get Guimaraes.
we lost. we haven't won there in 8 years.

stop confusing the requirements of winning a title with those of getting 4th place. placing 4th is always about getting the results that you're expected to get. Giving an awful Southampton their only win (and at our ground no less) in the last 12 games of the season is a perfect example of where a 4th place candidate loses all legitimacy at playing in the CL.

Fine margins this game, anything can happen here, despite the history in our favour. So we shouldnt be surprised if this ends in a loss on Saturday. Upset? Yes of course!

This isnt an excuse for the manager and team, but rather the reality of the level of competitiveness amongst the top six and Sp**s are a top side. The real measure of our credentials, whether top four or more, will come from how we deal with teams outside the top six. That is where I feel we are amongst the best in the league, even better than Sp**s.

All that said, we have the tools to win on Saturday. Cut out the mistakes and execute our plans well, and we will win.

We still have a fragility in these games. We can dominate sure, but we saw against Utd that a VAR blunder can throw the game.

Yeah, even with complete control of proceedings, like you see with City and Chelsea. You could still lose or draw a game like this. Conte has them playing a defensive game ahead of all else, and combined with top finishing, makes them a danger.

But, their conceding of the ball as they are so happy to do makes them vulnerable as well. You give a good side enough of the ball and they can and likely will punish you, throwing your game completely out. We have that ability, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and United have that too. West Ham almost took them apart and Sporting did (albeit Sporting playing them at their own game). So it will be interesting to see if they just sit back and absorb everything.

I think we need to build up play carefully and keep a strong presence at the back. They will be coming here for a 0-1 and will be happy with a draw.

If we play like we did against Manu we're in trouble. So we've got to make sure we always have a spare man at the back.

If we can take the lead then we shouldn't sit back totally but we should let them make the running and do the counter on them.

If we have the first XI as per the OP - happy for Tomiyasu to replace White if need be - we're better than them and we're at home so we should be winning this even if it's a close game.

We need to come out all guns blazing from the start and try to get an early goal. The crowd will be in full voice, but if the game drags on and becomes cagey the nerves will start to show.

Sp**s have been letting in goals this season, despite their impressive run.

Good to hear that Partey and Zinchenko back fit. From Sp**s game Arteta and the team need to lower the hard work in training 9 games in a month alot and we can't afford injures or we'll likely put 15 years old again on bench.

Massive boost if Partey and Zinchenko are fit for this.
Just hope Arteta has learned a lesson from the United game because our tactics played into their hands and we got killed on the counter, and Sp**s, with Kane, Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski, etc, are more effective at it.

Sp**s play horrific football tbh. Their game plan is clear as day. They’ll sit and soak and try hit us on the break. Watching Spuds this season, they give up so much space- I think we can properly hurt them.

I fancy Jesus to destroy them. The way he plays is like kryptonite for Romero- he’ll follow him around and get frustrated. We need to get the ball into him as often as possible and get Saka and Martinelli in at their defence.

Confident of a win, they always **** it at The Emirates. But Son just had to break his duck before our game with them didn’t he?

Going for a 3–1 win. Jesus, Xhaka and Saka with the goals. COYG!

Feeling confident now. This tells me the team is ready and up for it. It’s also up to the fans to generate a huge atmosphere.8B68DAFF-ADAE-4537-8FB4-5C8FC305A776.jpeg

We beat Southampton at home last season 3-0....The defeat was an away game...
