Yeah they did. I was responding to a poster who said it's shortsighted to sell the women team. Their parent company owns it so they still control it and won't lose out if the women game explodes.

We're going to see more deals like this thanks to PSR. Because for the selling club the money is immediate profit while the buying club can stretch the fee over the duration of the contract. It's dodgy, but that's what the league wants apparently.

We're terrible at selling. No doubt. Doesn't help that most of the players we'd like to sell are close to 30 though.

Yeah. Look at Will Wright for instance. Liverpool beat us to his signature for what, £200K?

If he absolutely bombs they'll probably get £10M.

If he goes on loan and does ok, they'll probably get £20M+.

If he has any first team exposure and does ok then you are probably £30M+.

I think you’re confusing this deal for those academy grad ones which are obviously engineered.

37m for a 23yr old prem proven winger isn’t actually overvalued in this day and age.

But these kind of deals are why the board have (post Edu) sanctioned a bigger transfer budget for the u18s/u21s to attempt similar deals to Doak from Celtic after a decade of neglecting them.

We'll have to win something major and it will probably take winning something major a couple of times for this reputation to even begin to turn around. I don't think giving a bigger budget for u18/u21 will solve this directly. We'll still get manipulated by agents and players just leaving on their own before we can sell anyway.

Although, look at City who bought Savinho for 7m loaned him around then sold him to themselves for 31m and are now trying to sell him for 70m. We'll never engage with this type of behavior and we'd never get away with it either.

They need to also invest in the coaching department for the youth. Arsenal for long time has not seriously invested in its academy and had more of if we can get 1-2 players through then great. Instead of seeing it as a big business and try to attract the best coaches and young players.

We have owners who apparently didn't watch Chelsea sell the women's team to themselves to give themselves PSR room and think that we should do the same with our Champions of Europe who have the highest attendance figures of any women's club on earth and whose market value should be in line with that.
