More clubs should sell their womens teams. A waste of space.
They still own the women team.Nah, short sighted moves to cover up bad spending. Women’s game does have potential so owning your own team might be a big deal down the line.
Chelsea would still want Ekitike? I can't see it, but these guys have no logic. They spend 50m on players like it's nothing![]()
They sold themselves the woman's team did they not? Some solid old fashion dodgy American corporation tactics. They still own the women team.
Yeah they did. I was responding to a poster who said it's shortsighted to sell the women team. Their parent company owns it so they still control it and won't lose out if the women game explodes. They sold themselves the woman's team did they not? Mediocre players too. Over £100m on Gittens and Pedro for example. These signings are unlikely to catapult them into title winning team. Long may it continue.Chelsea would still want Ekitike? I can't see it, but these guys have no logic. They spend 50m on players like it's nothing![]()
Regardless of how Pedro develops. I hate that player so happy it wasn't us.Mediocre players too. Over £100m on Gittens and Pedro for example. These signings are unlikely to catapult them into title winning team. Long may it continue.
Are we gonna start cashing in on this? We're going to see more deals like this thanks to PSR. Because for the selling club the money is immediate profit while the buying club can stretch the fee over the duration of the contract. It's dodgy, but that's what the league wants apparently.
We're terrible at selling. No doubt. Doesn't help that most of the players we'd like to sell are close to 30 though. Are we gonna start cashing in on this?
And by the way, Liverpool have been doing this for well over a decade. It’s not new.
Chelsea been doing it a lot too.
If we want to be a self sufficient and sustainable club who can still sign who they want, we need to be doing this.

Its why everyone is competing for young homegrown talent, if they bang great if not and even get some kind of decent exposure via loan to even a championship club, great chance of getting a decent fee.
You can factor in the pure profit angle also, hence ESR up to 34m and Nketiah 25m have at least helped our outlay this summer with no tangible sales as yet.
Because these players are obviously overvalued. Won't be long until UEFA steps in I think. What's dodgy about it?

We'll have to win something major and it will probably take winning something major a couple of times for this reputation to even begin to turn around. I don't think giving a bigger budget for u18/u21 will solve this directly. We'll still get manipulated by agents and players just leaving on their own before we can sell anyway. Are we gonna start cashing in on this?

They need to also invest in the coaching department for the youth. Arsenal for long time has not seriously invested in its academy and had more of if we can get 1-2 players through then great. Instead of seeing it as a big business and try to attract the best coaches and young players.Doak has been rated as a real talent since before Liverpool snatched him away from Celtic youth team
But these kind of deals are why the board have (post Edu) sanctioned a bigger transfer budget for the u18s/u21s to attempt similar deals to Doak from Celtic after a decade of neglecting them.
We have owners who apparently didn't watch Chelsea sell the women's team to themselves to give themselves PSR room and think that we should do the same with our Champions of Europe who have the highest attendance figures of any women's club on earth and whose market value should be in line with that. Are we gonna start cashing in on this?
