@Oxeki going early with the matchday thread - he must be bored ! 😜

Damn these sodding international matches !

Hopefully all our players return without injury 🤞🏼

for some reason this fixtures has become a difficult fixture for us of late, hopefully we put it behind us same way as Westham at home and Newcastle away.

Tbf we kinda battered them last season at their ground only to have our winner chalked off by the smallest of offsides in build up. We have far more weapons to hurt teams now, hopefully we come through the international break without any injuries so we can line up a very strong team.

I just noticed that this is our only away game this month even though we play six games in October. Six games and five of them at home. Seems unusual.
Does that mean we have a run of away games at some point?

Did we draw that game ?

I thought we lost 1-0 after saka header was chalked off for martinelli being offsides when he had to right to be offside in that position

Another bogey team who got Arteta's number. His biggest test of the season so far were Newcastle and West Ham who we dismantled with ease. I am cautiously optimistic. We have a lot more tools now to beat these physical congested midblock teams. 0:2 Arsenal

The midblock teams have been the bane of our existence for the last three years. The way we cope against the likes of Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa, West Ham and Newcastle will tell me how much Arteta has learned. So far we beat West Ham comfortably and had our best performance against Newcastle, but the job is not done. I like the box midfield formation that we used against Newcastle. Getting two of Eze, Nwaneri, Trossard, and Saka in the half-spaces is key to breaking down this sort of team.

I started clapping myself... until I realised that I was Sunderland's manager.
