It was absolutely dire for us in an attacking sense until both teams started subbing players. A 17 & 18 year old bailed us out of a hole.

There is a really unkind post on the Leicester forum saying the game was won for us the moment Sterling was subbed off.

Mate he is a premier league footballer. It's not like he has never had a shot at goal in his life. This current narrative of he is a cdm by trade so he is excused from being crap going forward. Its garbage, if he is good enough to play for arsenal in that role he has to be alot better. It's also leceister and he obviously has convinced arteta he can play the 8 position and be attacking. I look at his physicality, speed and strength and this guy should be bombing into the box and getting 10 plus a season.

He had chances today to let rip and he bottled it. I guarantee if he scores a few then the goals will flow for him. But I'm not going to sit there and congratulate him for adding nothing to the game today.

That’s not a narrative, it’s an objectively accurate fact. You’ve basically proven my point by emphasising his physical qualities as justification for his use as an attacking driving force. I’m pointing out that we need other qualities.

Arteta, as I’m sure you know, puts a lot of focus on generating attacking threat by winning the ball high and Rice excels at that. But that only works against teams who try to dominate possession. What he doesn’t excel it is vision, creativity and guile. This is needed against teams who defend deep. That’s not excusing him it’s just a fact.

This is a guy who spent almost all of his youth football career being groomed as a centre back.

But he scored a lot of goals for his position at Sociedad and also is better at everything as a footballer than Kai. Kai is probably faster that us about it. And since ge has been England he has looked dangerous in box as well.

It might be for you, but city scored 4 against a team whom we couldn't score 1 in 180 minutes. We have to now play with Merino and Trossard as striker for rest of the season. Yet few are defending board of not signing anyone in Jan window. Let's see how this will fare against better teams.
We scored 5 against City. Did you miss that game or doesn't it fit into your agenda?

I am doing as exactly what you said there. I don't want that guy going past the halfway line for us if he cannot shoot and will bottle every shot. So we are in agreement that he is terrible going forward and should be playing the 6 of cb. So when I critise him you can now understand why.

It also is a narrative, the narrative was the start of the season that dec will play as a 8 and arteta will unlock this amazing attacking rice. Now it's obvious as you have highlighted the guy isn't good enough to play that high up.

I give up with rice guys. So quick to defend the player for being terrible at something that they agree he is terrible at. 🙄

I must be confused then because I agree with everything you’ve just said

I'm delighted with the result given what we gave up front. No idea what we'll do next but just win any way we can. COYG.

Excellent analysis from the prestigious SuperBru Gold Cap winner. Expect nothing else; I got my 👁️ on you Mrs. B; but not in the strange way of our resident pansexual @Blood on the Tracks; strictly as a Superbru competitor.

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
