I think when the dust settles and we look back on this season the general consensus will be that we were simply not good enough. VAR and sending offs are legit reasons but even excluding that I think compared to the last 2 seasons we had dropped a level or two and Pool simply took advantage of that. The league table doesn’t lie and 7 extra points would still see us lose it. We’ve been poor compared to the last 2 seasons a s we lost the league because we simplify we’re not good enough. The Arsenal teams under Wenger dealt with this pro Utd nonsense at the time and every league title we won was earned. This side we have without a striker and with Merino playing up front just doesn’t deserve to be title winners. The issue was settled on the pitch fair and square and we should accept it for what it is. Not good enough.

Ok but the direct points lost and the first half sending offs at the beginning of games requiring players to work twice as hard to hold narrow leads should not be underestimated. Arguable Arteta overplays our first team. But also arguably, our first team was required to play twice as hard early in the season due to dubious early sending offs. I could write it off, but why has PGMOL made so many dubious decisions towards us this year? Shouldn’t be forgotten and they should be put toward the sword. Also Arteta should be pressured about not rotating or playing youths. But why haven’t we seen similar double yellows given to similar offenses of other teams? Arteta needs to learn from this and PGMOL should not exist and a new multinternation body should rise and govern the league.

I think up until Matchday 25 I would have entertained the possibility of us being hard done by referring decisions. We were within 7 points after beating Leicester.

However, we really stumbled in the few games after and haven’t been good enough. We don’t look like the team that beat City 5-1. That is in part due to injuries to Gabriel and Havertz, and I’d hope if we had them available we’d would be pushing them closer. We have had injuries to key, spine players through the season. We need to remember Ode and Saka were rushed back after injuries too, and neither haven’t looked their best since they returned. But I agree we don’t look like a team that should be winning the title at the moment.

While it would have been ideal to have reinforcements in January, it was clear Arteta wanted one and the squad expected it too from interviews. There wasn’t a recruitment set up at the time with Edu leaving and the board needs to take blame for that. However, I also don’t entirely blame the previous set up for not bringing players in summer. We had Havertz and Jesus - and we you can’t count for a season ending ACL. I think considering what Sterling was brought in to be - back up to the wide players - it made sense, just the wrong player in the end. If any top team gets long term injuries to their main and back up strikers and their main CB, as well as mid season injuries to their captain and star player, they will struggle.

We have been unlucky this season, and while the margins in the CL were very fine, that hasn’t been the case in the PL because it’s a different type of contest. However, I think with one of Havertz or Jesus we finish the season v differently.

Obviously we’d all love a bright, shiny new CF. However, the difference next season needs to be that we have squad players Arteta can trust, even if that’s having Fabio Vieira and Reiss back in the squad, to stop injuries to key players. Ode, Saka and Havertz have all been overplayed this season and had injuries to show for it. The only player who need a rest who got one was Rice, and that’s because at the time we were able to bring Merino into midfield.

I can't honestly believe the attention a Guard of Honour is getting this season, I have honestly never even heard it mentioned before lol.

I am annoyed we aren't champions, couldn't be arsed if we clap anyone into a pitch ffs...even when we clapped Van Persie coming back, I was just more angry he won the Championsship.with the ****...i have honestly never got the big deal out of this?

it's just showing respect and circumstantial in terms of when the fixtures are picked,no one has any real control of doing it, winning the title at someone else's ground is WAY better.

How does social media make everything cringe 😅

There is an interview on YouTube with Rice talking about the season to Sky Sports, honestly it's just 10 mins of the interviewer asking "Why did you guys suck and how painful is it to not win?" over and over again ffs.

Fair play to him for doing it as I would have got frustrated and walked away at some point

First time maybe ever that I don’t actually care that we’re playing. My weekends typically revolve around our games as well and yet I could easily see myself not watching another game this season. Please get some attackers this Summer

Our captain left and received a guard of honour on his return. If we're suppose to care about this it's a drop in the ocean in comparison.
We gave Ox a guard of honour in 2020 as well

Poor viktor is going Wenger on us. Sad to see what you’ll count as a trophy these days.
