I'm hoping Arteta surprises me and goes with a Partey-Rice-Nwaneri midfield. There is no point trying to beat Newcastle in their own game because their midfield is the most physical in the league. Arteta should use the same tactic that he employed against Everton last season. A technical midfield compromising of Vieira-Rice-Ødegaard, at first left people scratching their heads, but this midfield configuration allowed us to exert our technical supremacy and walk away with three points. We will not get any mileage from Merino-Rice-Havertz, and Trossard in his current form leaves a lot to be desired.

Central midfield will be interesting.

Merino has started looking pretty good, and Rice put in his best performance of the season at 6 against Liverpool, but you can’t really drop TP at the moment.

Think he goes with TP and Rice but it’s a good dilemma to have.

Rice is so much better at the 6. Very curious to see if Mikel comes back to Partey at the 6 again. Merino as an 8 should be a lock given how physical the Newcastle midfield is. So it's between Partey and Rice.

We could also field a defense Partey - Saliba - Gabriel - Timber with Rice - Merino in midfield.

Physically that might be the best we can do. We could even play Nwaneri with that much security.

I hope we go aggressively for a win, desperately we need it to bounce back and make pressure to the top

Newcastle haven’t been good as of late winless in 5 and only 1 goal from open play. They start games off bright but dwindle as games go on. Possibly as a result of their midfield being extremely flat with Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno G. They rely heavily on their left side of Lewis Hall and Gordon to produce their attacks which makes them lopsided.

Without Ø I expect them to double up and focus on isolating Saka. Could see them moving Joelinton to the wing for this reason.

I expect our front 3 to get a lot of joy this game as their defense is slow as **** and struggle to contain pacey attackers, need to exploit the gaps they leave between their midfield and defense. (watch their Premier League game against Chelsea). Trossard will get joy this game I expect

Hopefully Guimaraes don't get triggered and elbow someone again.
I’d say go ahead so they can play with 10 men but apparently you can do whatever you want vs arsenal off the ball and not get anything.

Mane vs Tierney, Bruno vs Jorginho, VVD vs Havertz. All clear reds which didn’t even get a yellow and were not properly checked by VAR.
