yeah the modern football fan is different, the way they consume the sport is different, i can't remember a conversation about field tilt, progressive passes and XG growing up, the intangible qualitlies of footballers that you can see just by watching someone play is a indication of their actual quality IMO.

You never talked about how many progressive two footed tackles Vieira had, or Parlour's expected pints per match were off the charts back in the day with your mates?

What kind of a fake Arsenal fan were ya!

no i just enjoyed us being a great team lol, we're a diffrent club now so maybe that has something to do with it, the expctations have changed significantly under this new management and ownership people are much more forgiving and patient.

Don’t think we’ll do this. It’s far too slow and prone to high turnovers.

We’ll go for a workmanlike midfield, so Kai dropping into the 8 and Jesus coming in as the CF. That allows for rotation between 8 and 9 in game.

Martinelli and Saka to play out wide to give us that ability to attack space.

This is my prediction.

Martinelli —- Jesus —-Saka
——— Havertz — Ødegaard
——————-TP5
Timber—Gabriel—-Saliba—-White
——————Raya

Agreed, but big question mark around GJ fitness.

Wonder if Calafiori gets a start provided his knock isn’t too bad? We’re loosing Rice’s pnp and could do with an extra big lad in the box.

Who takes our corner kicks now Rice is out? I was confident we'd score a couple from there as tinspurs are atrocious defending them but not so much now

Another area where we can target them is at the far post, particularly at the set piece.

I suspect Arteta would have seen that and are planning something there.

In a gesture of peace we agree to meet for a lasagna buffet, all get a dose of the s**ts, and end up playing the game 8 on 8 with high lines that are so insane they become Facebook memes. The score could be almost anything.

What's feels more frustrating in your opinions?

1) Losing because of injuries and unfair suspensions (let's say this happened in the NLD). It's somewhat out of our control, but leaves an annoying 'what if'.

2) Losing at full strength from just not being quite good enough (let's say this happened in the City game). It's in our control, but 'fair'.

Asking more about the hypothetical than the specific NLD/City games.

2.

Not expecting a win in this one without Rice won’t lie. I’d play the following -

Raya
White - Saliba - Gabriel - Calafiori (if fit)
Jorginho
Ødegaard - Havertz
Saka - Jesus (if fit) - Sterling

If Jesus isn’t fit put Sterling up top and Martinelli LW.

We’ll need the counter attacking pace. I’m hoping that Saka, Havertz etc don’t play in the second international games.

We can win.

We beat City without Saka last year.

Have faith brethren.

Lot of good players on this squad.

Here is where Arteta has the potential to really shine as a manager and come up with something tactically against Mr. Highline.

Arsenal Quotes

Right from his very first match, when Patrick Vieira was as yet unknown to the English public, he showed just how talented he was. No one disputed his ability, and he gave me the credibility and the hold over the club that I needed to take it in the direction I wanted. He and Emmanuel Petit became a duo that would remain forever etched in the memories of Arsenal fans.
