How did Enrique make Dembele press like this? Inter could not play at all because they had 3 mad men pressing up front led by Dembele.

I remember at Emirates they suffocated us and we could barely touch the ball and had to go long or clear it immediately because of this press suffocating us.
He dropped him for the league phase game against us because he wasn't doing this. Dembele to his credit responded by having the best season of his career.

There's a video from last year or the year before of him trying to do this with Mbappe by pointing out that Michael Jordan was as aggressive defensively as with the ball and that the star needs to lead and be an example even if he's not scoring goals. Kylian clearly didn't buy in to that message like Ousmane has.

They dont want to pass the ball back and give Inter the chance to press and chase them. Setting the tone right from the first second is very important.

that's how we always suffer because when we are in the lead, the 2nd half we always come out passive and focus to not lose. Then we gets pinned back and the rest is history

This is a common tactic in rugby. You kick the ball out of bounds in the opponents half and then compete in a lineout lift to win back the ball.

I'm surprised it's taken so long for football to adopt it.

I don't get it either, it seems like such an obvious tactic. Kick it deep into the opponents corner and aggressively press and compete for the resulting throw-in, you can even go man to man because the opponent will have a man less taking the throw.

This is what we do these days from kick off. Ball goes to raya who kicks deep into opposition half.

The more you think about it, the more you realise Arsenal vs PSG was the real final. I do think about Declan Rice going mad at TP5 when he picked up that needless yellow at Madrid, but I'm not convinced that would cover the difference. They were clearly the better side over the two legs, but if their keeper hadn't pulled off just one of those worldie saves....

Where was Haramball when we really needed it?

If it makes you feel better we chose Ugarte over Joao Neves and funded PSG to sign him and make a profit.
As if PSG needs to sell in order to buy. They buy which ever players they want, and only sell when the manager does not want to use him.

We had a chance to get this guy from Porto, but we chose Fabio Vieira instead 😭

Don't think we had a chance once PSG is interested. Some goes for Joao Neves and Kvaratschelia.

Arsenal Quotes

In June 1996, David Dein, Peter Hill-Wood and Danny Fiszman came out to Nagoya to meet me on behalf of Arsenal. Within an hour we came to an agreement. The Japanese directors didn't try to keep hold of me in the usual way but talked with persuasive arguments... But as far as I was concerned, the decision was taken. Arsenal. A decision that would change my life.
