Pundits and their wisdom

Blind faith in "LVG filoshophy"
This thread is in celebration of the news that Alan Hansen will be put down at the end of the season.

Like Alan, there are countless other pundits / commentators, who regularly come up with the stupid remarks, faulty analysis or whatever.

Post your gems here!

Jan Molby. Infuriatingly biased, I get that he played for Liverpool but Gary Neville can actually make a decent analysis without Man Utd bias.

"Arsène Wenger is facing his biggest challenge as Arsenal manager.

During the last six or seven years, they might not have won anything, but they have always been competitive and had a squad that looked capable of growing into a real force.

I don't feel that any more. Quite simply, this is not a good Arsenal team.

In the past, they have always come out of a mini-crisis by winning six or seven games in a row. I don't know if they can do that anymore.
Wenger made three big signings in the summer, going for players in their mid-to-late twenties which is a bit older than his usual signings. Supposedly they were the finished article.

However, on the evidence so far, he looks to have got two out of three wrong.

Santi Cazorla looks a top player, although he has not helped himself with his diving antics against West Brom.

But Lukas Podolski, much as he's an intelligent player with good movement, hasn't produced so far. And I'm not sure Olivier Giroud has the speed to cut it in the long run.

Those three cost £35 million - so there is no guarantee of great results if Wenger dips into the reported £70m kitty at his disposal."

His last gem.
"Liverpool could pip Arsenal and Manchester United to fourth"

"Newcastle came up against a very very Aston Villa side today" (not a typo)

"Casillas stood there with his legs"

Both from Shearer

"Yesterday the world was introduced to Ibrahimovic" Jamie Redknapp the day after THAT goal from Ibrahimovic against England

No Jamie, yesterday was when YOU were introduced to Ibrahimovic. The rest of us have known for quite some time that he exists and is pretty ****ing good!

I'm nearly sure Clock that this tread already exists because I put a few in it myself - I know the search engine on this site is as good a Engine of Lada and we may never find it again ha ha.

It was eleven against eleven until the sending off - BBC Live match report from another ground - priceless stuff.

Alan Hansen said on MOTD near the end of last season after Villa got a win to take them further away from the drop-zone - "Paul Lambert should be manager of the year".

Every MOTD you get at least one gem.

while i think gary neville is wrong about the english national team and the need for quotas, his analysis of the game is second to none. its amazing watching a 5 minute video of him breaking a team down, and then you watch garbage like MOTD and hear nothing but tired cliches and banalities. i hope neville doesnt get bored and move on to something else, hes been brilliant.

He'll be doing his coaching badges soon, as well as his England coaching and role in the national side. Best enjoy some decent punditry before he inevtiably leaves and we're left with the Jamie brothers...

He's brilliant at punditry, quite eloquent in a way that many (myself included) don't expect.

I suppose you have to be intelligent to have lasted that long in a club of that stature, even if you're just a regular joe in terms of athleticism and skill.

Best pundit by far on TV now and I hope there are more like him on the way. I really do.

Really love Gary Neville's analysis. He isn't a bias sh1t and makes some really good points. Favors Arsenal a lot too and hopes we get back to how we were in our glory days. Respect to that.

Arséne Wenger: "I will miss you"

Speaking of MOTD, how did everyone miss the recycled cliche of 'Arry:
"Sp**s will finish above Arsenal".

This has been doing the rounds for what, the past 6-7 seasons ?

You see, it's in Harry's best interest for them to finish high. He'll be the one harping on about how he built the team, how he recruited all of them and how great he is. He's so self centered it's ridiculous. Every time a foreign player is mentioned, he without hesitating states that he was going to sign him. Every single time. Imagine how annoying he must've been when he was younger.

I was watching this show and a pundit called Man Utd the "New Everton".

This was after the first game of the BPL season.

Said they are all decent to average, hard working players but they don't have a lot of creativity or guile.

What he's forgetting was that it was the exact same Man Utd side that won the title last season and that he and all the other pundits were praising to the high heavens and wondering if they could be considered a "vintage United side" up there with the team from 99 and 08.

Spastics the lot of them.

Either they were vastly overrated them last season or they are underrated now.

Hyperbole, a pundit's best friend.
