Raheem Sterling: Raheem the Dream

It's still not a bad signing given that he's only been here two months and Chelsea are paying what, 2/3rd of his wages?

People have written off Ødegaard, Havertz, Raya and others as easily as they are doing Sterling now. He's played a total of 243 minutes here. Imagine him scoring the winner at Chelsea, the loan would be succesful based on just that.

He hasn’t played much for a long time before moving to Arsenal; so I am willing to reserve judgement. But he has looked awful. His passing and amount of giveaways make his O goal number look even worse

What’s the point if he’s going back to Chelsea at the end of the season?

He doesn’t have the luxury to take months to turn out good. If he doesn’t hit the ground by the Boxing Day, then it’s gonna be a terrible signing, there is no way around it.

Maybe Chelsea isn’t that stupid and there is a reason why they agreed to such a deal.
Maybe there’s a reason we didn’t try to include a buying clause?

Just feels like a panic move.

Arteta doesn’t even seem to trust him that much. But once again what’s the point to invest time in him when he’s not our player ?

Cheap and available.

Worst-case outcome he is a Reiss Nelson replacement. He can eat up minutes and give some of our forwards a rest. That is a plus. Chelsea is paying part of his salary. This is another plus.

Anything else he gives would be a bonus.

His value is more in how he enables us to manage other players. Maybe without him we risk Saka on Tuesday or pile more minutes on Martinelli and Kai in the cups.

For an outlay of around 5M we can’t complain too much.

He hasn’t started like I’d have hoped but he hasn’t really been given the keys.

Martinelli tbf to him has responded very well which is also impacting his minutes.

It’s a shame he’s only here for a season because we can hope Merino improves once he learns the system and plays with our best players but by the time Raheem gets that it’ll be time to go back to Chelsea.

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Even in the game against Bournemouth he always put himself in great position but final decision is a mess. He just doing too much but still good cover to have for at least this season. Just need to get that goal scoring touch

Buy clause wasn't applicable as a very last minute deal.

Plus if he doesn't work out we won't want him anyway.

If his confidence and form returns then we will have pretty much a free run at him, pretty evident he is done at Chelsea and no other viable destinations for him.

He wasn't a panic move either as we needed a winger with his skillset, the last minuteness simply meant we got a better deal wage wise.

He’s still a dangerous player. His dribbling is superb. He should’ve had a goal too.

I’m pleased with him. For a squad player, you can’t complain with his performances so far IMO.

He's pretty much done what I expected him to do (I had a very low bar given his chelsea form and fallout).

Nothing to rave about yet, but I do see glimpses of the old Sterling and to be fair to him he's giving it a real go.

Not really getting a chance with our best players due to Nelli responding well.

The flashes I’m seeing do make me confident he’d be better than Nelli if given the same opportunities but I’m not going to lose sleep over that as he won’t be here next year.

I think he has deserved a start over martinelli. But we in an awkward position if he does well. It kills martinelli and fans would want us to buy him. I don’t think he will ever be starter no matter how well he does

True, it would make no sense to harm your players potential/transfer favour by starting a loan player from your rivals over him.
Maybe you’d expect Edu to make that point to Mikel.

I don’t know if Mikel would listen but that could be an explanation.

Good game from him but again it's Preston.

I want him to start a PL game at LW and see how he does along with our main team.

Whenever martinelli isn't available we play trossard on the left. IMO trossard should play in the middle or shouldn't start and can play lw only as a sub.

Want to see sterling there when martinelli is out or needs to be dropped

Not at his best, but you can see glimpses of the class player he was. Much younger Saka and Martinelli are more dangerous. But a good back up for injuries and cup comps.

Agree with the others, after being used to a left footed wide man on the right in Saka it just looks a bit ill fitting now to see first Nelson and now Sterling as right footers on the right.

He would be better on the left, but he does a job on the right in that he does ok, and more importantly allows us to rest Saka.

I backed the loan for that reason, in that having someone is better than having nothing, but long term we need that left footed there, or at least someone thats more 2 footed than what we've used before like someone like Semenyo?

A player's true character is in how he plays and not in his social life. You can hide your real personality in your social life, You cannot on the field.
