Raheem Sterling: Shaken, Not Sterred

Still Pining for Wenger
Apart from him being obviously washed up, lets not forget he didn't have a preseason and essentially got injured before he could build any sort of rhythm. With his confidence shot and totally on the floor, we just could not afford to "play him into form".
I feel for him. I am sad we only got an incredibly washed up version of him.

I completely blanked Sterling being injured. When was this?

Some players like Sterling in this situation you just have to feel sorry for.

He's just washed, it's not due to a lack of effort, it's just not there with him anymore.

Even for a loan it's been a very poor return on investment for us. He's contributed nothing.

The only silver lining is Chelsea are going to be stuck with him for years but knowing them they'll somehow palm him off to Saudi or the US.

Nah, Sterling already had a long, successful career. He will still be cashing in 300k+ for another two years if he just stick it out at Chelsea.

If Chelsea could get rid of him, they wouldn’t have been forced to pay 70% of his salary on loan

What an awful loan. Was Edu the only one who thought it was a good idea? He deserves that firecracker he’ll be working under at Forest!

After his uber-diabolical season at Chelsea in 23/24 surely not even the most powerful Chinese AI model running on the latest Nvidia processors could have predicted that things would have turned out this way for him on loan here this season.

Although I did point it out early on in this thread tbf

Thought this could be a shrewd signing when it happened but didnt work out one bit. Really cant call it the worst transfer ever with an outlay of 100k/week. Costs us 5m in a year, which is wasteful, but its not like our 80m signing walking out the door for free.

As putrid Arsenal seasons by a rival's reject go:

Raheem Sterling in the PL this season: 0 goals and 2 assists in 16 appearances

Mikael Silvestre in the PL in 08-09: 2 goals and 1 assist in 14 appearances

This is pretty f*cking bad.

I'll never understand why people treat goals and assits like they're the same thing these days.

The club changed so much, I changed with it and football has changed with us... But one thing never changes: the 90 minutes still belong to the player, 90 minutes during which he is king.
