✍️ OFFICIAL Raheem Sterling

Would you be happy with Sterling (on a cheap/loan deal) as our attacking signing?

Significant bonus that getting someone in allowed us to send Nelson out on loan to develop further.

I hope the minutes allow him to take a step forward.

Only positives from this signing for me.

Think Sterling is a good back up for Saka and can give us rotations. Also a soltion on the left. Im not sure you find a better backup unless you are willing to take a risk on talent that would turn out big. Given Martinelly poor form I wont be surprised that Arteta might try him somewhere else now. and thats possibke because of Sterling.

If Arteta can do half with what he did with Havertz for Sterling then we are rolling imo!

Sterling on loan to Arsenal who can cover for Saka and Nelli/Tross, and also allowing Reiss to go out on loan?

I mean it's pretty damn good, pretty damn good.

Not only that but linking with Teta again? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited and I think it could be a really important signing; just to add that last 10% to hopefully help push for the title this season.

I hope you're right. A lot will probably hang on Arteta's ability to get Sterling motivated. This is not a signing I would have taken before the window, but it is what it is. At least manager and player know each other, hopefully that will be evident in the matches to come....

He's our man now. Come on Raheem!

If you are to look for positives here....it is a great opportunity for him to come into a well performing side with a manager he knows.

I don't think he could have found a better side to get back into it.

Can we capitalize on that? We need to.

I wanted to come up with an equivalent of your “man from Montpellier” for Sterling but the best I could do was “our winger from Wembley” or “our jewel from Jamaica” 😞

25 mins to get this over the line. Will we hear the news tonight or is it going to be one that will wait until morning?

The only question we should ask is: " Is 30yr old Sterling better than 25yr old Nelson?"

If the answer is yes, than this is improvement.

I refuse to refer to Ødegaard as 'our man from Drammen' as it is in the east.

In Norwegian a 'dram' is a drink. The determinative 'the' in English is -en in Norwegian, ie a boat (en båt) and the boat (båten)

That makes the quip that Drammen (the dram ie the drink) It is better with a dram each hour than an hour in Drammen.

It is a bit unfair since Drammen used to be a run down industrial town, and now is rather rejuvenated.

Still at least the town gave us Ødegaard.

Looking good. Wasn’t how we drew it up at the start, but considering the lack of movement in the market and lack of outlay by the club (via sales) this depth is looking really good. I can see a situation where Sterling find form/shows his quality again within our setup.

Hopefully he, Sterling, gets the same patience Kai got from the manager/supporters/A-M to get settled as we could very well pulled a coup.

What I dislike about this signing, and I guess that's just me being petty, is that we're helping out Chelsea. I would've loved to see him just sit out his contract and tell Boehly and Maresca to get the money for new signings from somewhere else.

I guess as a player he still can be valuable if he's willing to accept a squad role. And at 29 years old maybe there's a chance for a resurgence? But who am I kidding, we're never that lucky...
