✍️ OFFICIAL Raheem Sterling

Would you be happy with Sterling (on a cheap/loan deal) as our attacking signing?

We got lucky but I think if we really want a specific player or profile and couldn't get it, deferring the signing by a year with a stopgap of Sterling's quality is a good move. Can't be upset at that personally, especially at the bargain fee we reportedly got.

Attack looks significantly stronger with him as an option on both sides of the pitch. Hope he balls out.
What is the fee?

What I dislike about this signing, and I guess that's just me being petty, is that we're helping out Chelsea. I would've loved to see him just sit out his contract and tell Boehly and Maresca to get the money for new signings from somewhere else.

I guess as a player he still can be valuable if he's willing to accept a squad role. And at 29 years old maybe there's a chance for a resurgence? But who am I kidding, we're never that lucky...
Chelsea are screwed either way. Their finances are a shambles this helps them marginally. Still their player after this season.

They let him leave because they clearly gain something but I'm not sure we've helped them that much. We only cover <50% of his wages and gave them no fee. Their savings are probably somewhat marginal, think it's partially an optics thing as criticism for their bomb squad was mounting.

Also important to remember that we helped ourselves out and that matters most. We got an attacking upgrade and more development for Nelson. When we're going up against the likes of Man City I prefer we focus on our needs.

Sterling on loan to Arsenal who can cover for Saka and Nelli/Tross, and also allowing Reiss to go out on loan?

I mean it's pretty damn good, pretty damn good.

Not only that but linking with Teta again? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited and I think it could be a really important signing; just to add that last 10% to hopefully help push for the title this season.
I think this is what people aren’t understanding, it’s as if last season has been wiped from their memory.

We are already IT. We could have gone into this season the same and still had a great chance to win the league (would’ve been dumb, but possible). What we needed was that extra small % as said and we have done that in defence and attack now and added a very important addition into midfield.

What were our three biggest weaknesses? LB, LCM and a winger.

Well, guess what? We just signed all three.

Really good window.

Do you really think he's good enough these days, for a title challenging side?

Maybe I'm too negative, but this feels like a Man United signing.

We've got an attack that already produced 91 goals in the league last year, where a major concern was the lack of Saka rotation as Nelson seemingly wasn't trusted. Sterling in my eyes needs to address that and be serviceable backup to be a success, anything more and we're then even looking very strong. That's not too high of a bar so there's reason to be optimistic here imo.

Deal done now, back to Arsenal talk!
