This right here is exactly why I find the "He just wants to provide for his family" horsesh*t. Is the money worth it if you put your family through this?

How’s that different to people from Mexico going to work in Texas everyday and going back home each night?
No, but they have to sometimes wait three hours in line at the tolls to return home lol. I’d rather take the 80 minute flight. Are there Mexicans making 800km daily roundtrips to their place of work?
Bit different picking between jobs that puts you either in the 1% wealthiest or the 0.1% wealthiest bracket and picking between having no job at all/poorly paying job and one that you can live on.How’s that different to people from Mexico going to work in Texas everyday and going back home each night?
It’s generational wealth for his family in Colombia and his descendants. Athletes have a much shorter window of earning power than everyone else as demonstrated here:Bit different picking between jobs that puts you either in the 1% wealthiest or the 0.1% wealthiest bracket and picking between having no job at all/poorly paying job and one that you can live on.
He was already earning generational wealth for his family in Colombia at Aston Villa and that would have gotten a significant bump with any top European club who were no doubt interested or a new contract at Villa for that matter. When are we going to stop pretending that £80k a week is a slave wage? It’s generational wealth for his family in Colombia and his descendants. Nobody said £80k is a slave wage, but you can’t be so judgmental when you don’t know his situation. He was already earning generational wealth for his family in Colombia at Aston Villa and that would have gotten a significant bump with any top European club who were no doubt interested or a new contract at Villa for that matter. Given the money that sports stars at the highest level earn in the big sports. If they still face financial hardship that's just reckless spending. Sucks, but if you have a tendency to spend recklessly you'll probably squander most of it no matter how much money you earn. Just look at Notch, trying to start grifting again despite getting an eye watering $2.5 billion for selling Minecraft to Microsoft.
