Iran sports minister has confirmed they will not participate at the world cup.

According to the rules Iraq, will take their place and UAE will face Bolivia in the intercontinental play-offs.

Happy @Yousif Arsenal ?

There still no official announcement yet but I guess the decision need to be made in next few days because we'll have to travel and it gonna be tiring because the airspace is blocked.

If we replace them of course I'd be happy also we'll be escaping being humiliated by France Norway and Senegal. The Iran group is much easier we might actually qualify to next round Egypt are better than us but they not levels above

Is there any Dutch league watcher here?

The brand of football NEC Nejimegen is insane. Haven't seen that in football before. No fixed position for any players, CBs can become wingers, strikers become CB, defensive mid as strikers etc. Fully fluid.

They've resisted selling some of their best players in the winter window even if there were insane offers by their standards. They'll probably sell some of their better players in summer for significant fees, like Sano, but they can afford to play hardball now that they have a wealthy owner as @Dennis_Bergkamp_10 says.

Their brand this year is quite entertaining and a bit kamikaze.

Yes, I’m actually from the Netherlands and I watch NEC Nijmegen quite often, and I completely get what you mean. The football they’re playing right now is wild in the best way possible—it’s almost a modern take on totaalvoetbal, but even more fluid. You can see players swapping roles constantly: centre‑backs stepping into wide channels, midfielders pushing into striker zones, forwards dropping all the way into the defensive line. It’s not random, though it’s a very deliberate, system‑based approach where the structure lives in the movements rather than fixed positions. The team keeps creating these rotating triangles and overloads that make it nearly impossible for opponents to stick with their markers. Honestly, it’s some of the most flexible and unpredictable football I’ve seen in the Eredivisie for a long time.
But you have to think about, that they will sell some of the best players this season and I don't think that they will do something great next season in European Football.

This is how modern football has been evolving for a while. Inzaghi was doing something similar with the CBs all going forward and the CMs all dropping deep to collect off the GK. Lots of teams are also packing the box with a fullback and other rotations to create disruption in the man to man marking systems that teams employ.

Kompany's Bayern do a lot of crazy rotations with Kane collecting the ball off the CBs and Upamecano having the licence to track runners deep in the opponents half.

Chanced upon this great match. Football those days was real fun. Both teams filled with many incredible legends. Villa, Mata, Silva, Alba, Özil, Frings, Mertesacker etc. Truly insane football on show.

Sad Werder and Valencia are nothing clubs these days, back then they played very good attacking football under Schaaf and Quique Flores
