Lamest excuse. Especially since before the tournament the german media was shouting "take a stand" and then after Germany went out suddenly "it was all too politicized". Hypocritical ******.

Also you can't tell me a couple of critical questions about politics derail your mental state so you cannot play football anymore. That narrative was bollocks from the beginning imo. Once they step into that stadium not one player thinks about politics for a second, not even the ones truly caring about it.

There's also a difference between e.g. Julian Nagelsmann being asked about daily politics and Covid or the US coach about the deployment of warships, that's just too much and has nothing to do with football, but if questions are in regards to and about the context of the football tournament you are partaking in, then imo these questions are absolutely fine and shouldn't take a mental toll on anyone. You can't tell me Neuer or Kimmich go sulking into their 5 star hotel room pondering politics and what kind of message to send cause they've been asked some tame questions and thus lose their ability to ball cause their head's so heavy with thoughts about current world affairs.

And you look at this WC, Infantino and his cronies, the IOC, football clubs and big sports events being bought as whitewashing projects, etc. etc.: This day and age football and any other sport unfortunately just isn't unpolitical anymore as they are clearly used as political and capitalist tools.

Thing is: Everyone knows and the only two options probably are to shut up, accept that unfortunate state and carry on or just get out like the Scandinavians are apparently thinking about.

Did you read Waldemar Hartmann's interview on cicero? He said there were real quarrels in the squad on how to "take a stand", Neuer and Goretzka were the two main guys of "Team Haltung" who said they absolutely had to virtue signal somehow while the rest of the squad were fractured.

He also laid into Flick for not putting his foot down and telling everyone to shut the **** up about it, media politicians and his players. Have to say I agree with him, Flick had so much goodwill built up after the CL win everyone rated him to the heavens if he really told people to cut it out for football especially with how hypocritical this country is they would've at least simmered down a bit.

It's not a new problem in German football anyway, remember Müller after 2018 adamantly saying there's no racism in the DFB after the Özil debacle, Armin Veh running around telling everyone that Merkel is his personal goddess etc. Could see this coming from a mile away, both because of a number of players and the whole establishment behind it - a chance to virtue signal AND stick it into dirty Arabs? They were never going to let it go.

What a rubbish list. No Partey? No Amrabaat / Ounahi? Pepe ahead of Ziyech? Who the hell comes up with this?
African fans, as the graphic states.

Pepe is having a good season, Ziyech barely plays for Chelsea and was honestly one of the weak points for Morocco in the WC.
