The defence and Rice won us the league.

What’s everyone’s rating for the window then?

3/10 for me.

Really like Bruno, but we have very good players in his position already. Like Konsa and think the signing was necessary, but at the end of the day he’s a backup.

Not bringing a level raiser (this doesn’t have to be a Vini/Alvarez) is one thing, but replacing Jesus/Martinelli/Trossard with Tzolis is unforgivable.

I don’t think the transfer guys are at the level to match the clubs apparent ambitions and something has to be done about that.

Yeh 4/10 for me. Nothing short of embarassing.

People will mention bringing in Bruno, bringing in PL proven Konsa. But ultimately the weighting here with the rating is more towards the attack.

i mentain it's 7 out of 10 because Konsa and Bruno are top 5 players in their positions and not some okay players they will be so important this season for us and will help win lot of points Tzolis is backup and look a good player we basically done 75% of what we wanted but again we didn't get the most important pieces it could easily be 10 out of 10 if got like Rogers too.

people here need to stop getting too emotional they acting like we have some scrub squad

You’re being way too generous there. The number 1 priority was raising the level of the attack, or at least drastically improving it. Instead we have gone backwards. You can’t give 7 for this just because we signed good players in other areas.

well because i consider Bruno and Konsa are very good and not some okay depth signing like for example Noni and Mosquera they bascially top 5 in their position and will start at all top clubs in europe Tzolis also had 50G/A last season and for depth signing it's good one so i'll be harsh rating these players as 3 out of 10 . yes i agree about not signing the long waited Star LW is major slap in face but at this rate i got use to it this is the 3rd or 4th summer they fail to deliever in that position.

Bruno is a quality addition and Konsa is decent business given the fitness of some of our defenders.

This forward situation has made the entire window a proper mess though. Imagine a Saka injury now. I don't want to hear some people on here as apparently we've got adequate cover and we are entitled moaners.

From the clubs POV it's very likely a 7/10 window overall.

We got rid of a lot of players people were clamoring to leave, signed a top 3 CM in the league, Hincapie was dirt cheap and Konsa ended up actually needed, given Mosquera has already given us an injury scare and Timber is enjoying his time at the farm up state where he's supposed to be "weeks away" which is Arsenal speak for "he's not kicking a ball anytime soon".

They went full on "let's We doubled down on what won us the league" and though I disagree with the strategy and what it means for the entertaiment factor of our football, I can't really argue against it.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it I suppose. Just look at what happened when Liverpool decided to ‘raise the ceiling’ last season.

From my own pov, though? it's a light 5.5 to 6/10.

Was against the Konsa signing at first, but can't fault the club given the above and I think Bruno at 75m is probably the best EPL value for money, if not the best outright purchase of the transfer window by a PL team.

Attacking wise, it's an "oof" out of ten.

You can't fault the effort, A+, gold star for almost getting Vini. The execution is there for everyone to see, but I want to bring attention how horribly off kilter the planning has been in, like, forever.

We are severly limiting ourselves and the pool of players from which we can chose by constantly looking for versatille and specially prem proven talent and that ends up with some very square pegs in rather rounds roles like Rogers being our preffered LW option.

At least with Alvarez, even though the profile was a bit off in how he would've fit here, the talent was obviously there.

This also strongly affects the club's own perception of the value present at the market and leads us to a place where we get stuck between the 36m~ we paid for Tzolis and the 150m euro we were willing to pay for Vini/Alvarez.

They probably think "Why pay 105m quid base or whatever for Barcola if for another 25m you could have gotten an elite level player if the starts alligned just right?".,

Or "Why sign a raw diomande for around the same fee when Vini was just a bit more expensive?"

The same applies for guys like Ndiyae who are going to occupy squad spaces for at least two seasons and prevent from going for another unicorn elite option the following summer window.

It's not even back to the drawing board here, it's throw it out in the yard and set fire to it. As long as we pidgeonhole our recruitment like that, we're not breaking into the elite continental shelve.

The intent was there, they knew Salah was on his way out. Problem is not last season, but how they've failed to address the shortcomming from their past summer windows right now.

Might've been a step back, but had they focused on defense and midfield instead of on Barcola, I reckon it would've been two steps forward in the end.

On paper, it's far easier to accomate a top end heavy team like theirs, than a bottom heavy (heh) one like ours. Rasing the floor in midfield and defense is far, far easier and Arsenal can attest to that since we've have done so for the past four seasons.

It's why not adding an elite talent is so damning for Arsenal.

3.5/10 window for me, we weakened the targeted position and instead focused on improving the squad depth (Except for the goalkeeper situation which becomes an issue if Raya gets injured). The rating would be lower however we did manage to shift some deadwood and even got fees this time.

5/10 window for me. Would be a 6.5/10 window if I was purely judging on this window as we got Bruno Guimaraes who can be a level raiser and Konsa was one of the best defenders in the league. But when we needed at least an elite left winger for a couple of seasons already and this season possibly a CF too, it can't be anything but a big disappointment to leave ourselves short again. Actually on second thought 4/10 because not only didn't we strengthen the attack but we weakened it by getting rid of Trossard, Nelli and Jesus.

So long as we have a guy that can sell a 40m player like Kiwior for only 17m euros, the club will never be able to match its ambition in the market. Again a reminder that despite their historic level of spending City and Chelsea have lower net-spend than us this summer once again.

We really need to have everyone score this window, and then put their number to any entries they make going forward.

Some people are going to look very silly!

Would appear there are some learning points (e.g. monga delay), but overall i struggle to see how this can be considered a particularly poor window for us.

Personally I would have sought out a bonafide right back over konsa, but it is what it is...not perfect but I think the squad balance is generally promising. I.e. imo we have 0.5 too many midfielders, and 0.5 too many attackers, but merino hopefully balancing that out a little.

If forced to score it I would say 7 out of 10, maybe even 7.5. Let's review in 8/9 months though.

What about the months he was unused on the bench while Trossard and Martinelli played?

What about it? He's got a fresh chance stake a claim.

6/10 - was a 7/10 before we sold off a chunk of the depth.

5/10 window for me. If I try to put more context on it, it’s really like a 3/10.

We really didn’t have much to do. Get an undisputed starting level LW, or at least one with the potential to be that. Everything else was secondary imo. We needed someone that could compete physically to the level that Rice does, but really as a backup more than anything, because Rice will still start most games.

We really really didn’t have many holes to plug, yet somehow we still kinda ****ed it up. Not good at all

6/10, assuming we get lucky with injuries or everyone else is in that much of a disarray we might still be able to retain the league.

Wanted some sales and got them, needed some more really as there are players that seem to be out of the picture like Gyokeres, that are still deadweight like Kepa or White, or that simply have no future here anymore like Nwaneri

Somehow found a way to end the window with fewer options for an already questionable attack off a title win. Pursuing Alvarez for that long after he made it abundantly clear he didn't want to come is embarrassing. Blame Berta too but Arteta has a longer history of this in his time here when it comes to signing attacking players.
