Interesting. Could argue there is no proof so Arsenal can say that. Orrr there actually wasn't.

Either way it's about time Arsenal tried to actually cover their PR angles ffs

I mean it could be true but like The Athletic reported today, one man used to do the job of three in the current setup. If they’re cost cutting Raul is the one that earns the most and also the one who seemed to be a control freak. He’d be the first to go.

The ESPN article didn't say there was a formal investigation, in fact in their article they went out of their way to state that the club denies there's an investigation.

There's a massive difference between a formal investigation and what they did say about 'a review of the talent identification process and financial aspects of recent transfer business.' Which likely happened.

They said the Pepe deal was part of an internal investigation into the recruitment processes at the club.

To be fair the article only mentions a "review", but the tweet linking the article stated there was an investigstion, which just shows how disingenuous ESPN are.

Its obviously a nothing story used to get clicks, and has now been dismissed by both Lille and Arsenal.

Whatever it was, it was dodgy reporting trying to sensationalise things.

Many posters, mainly G Deep took it and ran with it.

Fair enough mate, didn't see that one. Its mad what some people will believe as long as it suits there agenda. Neither article ESPN published on the story mentions agents being paid off in the Pepe deal, yet loads of people are citing this as the reason Raul was sacked ffs.

If you believe James fking Olley you deserve to be lied to...

So ESPN got wind that Raul was going to be sacked and decided to write a conspiracy story?

Color me shocked. Schocked.

They just said as part of their efforts to streamline and improve their operations they were reviewing or examining the Pepe deal to see if they over paid. That's looking at how they could do things better, not an investigation, which suggests irregularities.

Edit: The Saturday article said, 'ESPN reported on Friday that the club had launched an internal investigation into their recruitment processes' But the Friday article didn't use those words. Olley got carried away in the 2nd article

"ESPN reported on Friday that the club had launched an internal investigation into their recruitment processes amid concerns that had been raised over several transfers including the club-record £72 million purchase of Nicolas Pepe from Lille."

Direct quote from the Raul departure article.

The idiot got carried away on the Saturday, he was much careful with his words on the Friday. You can see why the club warned him.

I suspect fake news but I found this part that had been edited out from original piece:
"Pepes real price was only 70M. Last few days Raul Sanhelli was seen desperately demagnetizing hard disks and usb drives in clubs kitchen microwaves.
Israeli company hired by Vinai Venkateaham uncovered especially interesting digital footprints left by Raul on corporate firewalls : his last bookmarks on his browser "where to buy 2Million in crypto OTC" "which is the best cold wallet to hold Btc" "one way ticket to Dubai"

He tweeted out his original article (on Friday) with the caption that Arsenal had launched an internal investigation. He then goes on to contradict himself in said article, stating that a "review" had been conducted, as you mentioned. The next day he then refers to an investigation in his Raul article.

Whatever way you want to look at it, it is absolute gutter journalism with no substance whatsoever.

There were several transfers that were extremely suspicious.

I think would Mkhitaryan would be one of the more suspicious ones. We essentially canceled his contract and Raiola paid us 1 million to do it so Roma could sign him... how much was Raiola getting for that from Roma? He had a great season at Roma with 9 goals and 5 assists in 16 games in the league and they clearly wanted him and we were rumoured to have been offered 10 million for Mhiki in January... yet we somehow ended up with 1 million for him.

On the other hand we paid 5 million for the loan of an injured second choice right back that nobody else wanted.

I couldn't be happier this parasite is gone, and hope now that we're out from under him we become what we should be.
