They didn't know what European competition they'd be playing in until May 29 so it would've been difficult to do the ground work on transfers earlier without being able to give assurances over CL football.

Someone who used to work for Arsenal until rather recently was in quite a similar situation re: not knowing which competition the club would be playing in at his new employer. Said you have to factor something like that in, always think about every possibility, work on all fronts so once you're in the clear there's groundwork done and routes to follow independent of where you end up playing.

If Arsenal really waited for the season to end to see if they'd get EL/CL without doing extensive groundwork e.g. scouting, networking, figuring out targets, establishing early contact, etc. for both possibilities that's either highly unprofessional or very arrogant.

This person wouldn’t happen to be Sven Mislintat would it?

Starting to wonder if he’s Mislintat’s love child.

I'm just genuinely intrigued by his work. I think DoFs/Technical Directors are the most important guys at a club next to the manager/coach. There's a host of guys and I'm a big fan of them all. Mislintat just happens to come up here a lot because he worked for Arsenal.

Also interested to see how Edu actually turns out after a while.

Quite a few tidy CB's from PL/Champ you could grab for cheap that'd maybe see us till next year, only problem is being stuck with them.
