Kind of in favor of not blowing too much this summer.

Long term needs to be the aim as this team are so far away from top domestic rivals. Give Edu some time to bed in.

The position is the primary target, not Nkunku in particular. He was probably the best they could do in January but there are more options in the summer.

I hope so. I just wished the new manager would be backed more. Taking over from 22 legend isnt easy. Having zero to nothing to spend is even worse.

Isn’t this the whole point of you on AM?
The season's 2 days over and we've got a final to look forward too. Stop *****ing about what may or may not happen.

Anyway, i am not an angry person. I simply point out stupidity.

He said £50m last year and we signed players totaling £70m in fees. He also said this.

I was about to ask what he said last year. Fans going mental again about rumours. :)

It's better tactic to say we don't have money than say we have huge warchest. Pretty obvious.

Arsenal can turn players heads with tradition and bigger wages (freeing this year also) than most teams. It gives us leverage to say we can't afford more, but the player's head has been turned.

Good to hear that we are looking for new CM. That should be the first priority IMO.

Would you take Rabiot for free & for same wages as Ramsey would have been? Whatever that is? He is less injury prone I think.

Just win the EL and sell some **** players. That will still give us an exciting window.

It remains hopeless that City are rumoured to spend another 200m and the likes of Everton and Wolves will probably outspend us too.

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon did a piece last year explaining the difference between the cash budget and what they could actually spend in installments. It's all a lot more complicated than just throwing a figure out there.

It should also be noted that in the clip after Ornstein said "it looks like" the budget will be £40 million if Arsenal is in the Europa League and "substantially higher" if they're in the Champions League, he added "they also have new revenue streams coming in with the Adidas kit deal." That deal alone is worth an extra £30 million per season over the next five years. Emirates is kicking in another £10 million per season for the shirt sponsorship. That's £40 million in new revenue right there.

Also, watching the video clips leads me to suspect more than ever that Ornstein's source is no longer at the club. He sounds as though he's just repeating what he's read in the papers. "It looks like" is a pretty weak declaration of the budget to begin with. Then, in the clip where he's talking about potential transfer targets, he's just reading off a list and actually names Jeremy Wilson as a source. Then he wasn't sure how to pronounce Djene's name. Had he been talking to someone inside the club about the player, he probably would have known how to pronounce it.

So I won't get too excited about what anyone says about the budget. I'll be content to wait and see how it all plays out. The only thing I know for sure is that they will have more to spend if they get back into the Champions League.

Good post. I must ask why on Earth are you content when you could whine and be unhappy? Is that even living?

Is Godin a certainty for Inter? With our limited budget and if he's available, would love him here for a couple of seasons. Bring some of that Atletico/Simeone passion and intensity to the side (plus a real leader).

Guy’s way past it. He’d be brutal here.
