Just rotate him with Hincapie and hopefully he'll be fine, no way we should sell.

His profile is so unique: a left-back who can dribble into the box and bang it in on his right foot. There is no player like that, we won't be able to replace him adequately.
I don’t know why Arsenal fan think he’s so great at attacking. 1 goal 2 assists. Guys like Digne and Truffert has 5-6 assists in the league. Create far more and go all the way down the wing t create. Get a proper attacking fullback

I understand why Real Madrid want him. He can play almost every position in the back, but is also a threat going forward. He can dribble, find space and score a goal. There aren't many players out there like Calafiori, if there is one at all. We played some of the best football when he was fit and he was a chaos agent when we attack. This guy will do wonders if he can stay fit. But.
He is injury prone. But so are so many of our other players too. La Liga is less physical so he would probably fare well. This one is hard. If Real Madrid want him then I hope the club uses Dean Huijsen as benchmark. Real payed £50 million for Huijsen. Huijsen came from Bournemouth and didn't even make it in the world cup squad playing for Real Madrid. Calafiori is an Italy international, established and proven at 24 years of age.
If Huijsen could go for 50 then Calafiori ,who is more talented and has won more, costs £70 million

This is a genuine point that keeps being ignored.

I think @RunTheTrap mentioned that him being good at build up play is somehow being conflated with him being this amazing attacking fullback.

Our stale attacking football + our left side options typically being worse on the ball is causing this imo.

He’s a very good ball playing CB doing a job on the left. Yeah people really mix the two. Give me a natural attacking lb and Hincapie and he’s not needed

Huijsen only went that cheap because of a release clause

If we had a build-up monster in midfield, ala De Jong or Kroos, then Calafiori becomes redundant and a traditional, overlapping left back is a lot more attractive. As much football as he generates, he’s no Trent or a prime Cancelo.

That’s as much a tactical thing as it is a personel thing.

Our LB really shouldn’t be that crucial to our attacking play.

Moreover, our best gameplan can't continue to rely on a guy who's constantly in and out of the team due to injury or who cannot play 90 minutes regularly.

Would we really miss him that much with we had a better left winger and/or a proper fullback there? Not to mention MLS in midfield.

Don't even need to go down that route, MLS showed he's quite good progressing the ball and breaking/avoiding the press.

Cala is more about the overall package. Reckon if he was asked to invert to without leaving the lhs of the pitch, we'd see more of him fitness-wise. Perfomance, too

We should not accept anything less than €150m for a guy that would instantly be by far the best defender in La Liga.

If they offer anything less than that, I want us to be so much more petty and give them more ridicule on social media than A.Marid did to them , that the second series of Adolescence will be based on the Official Arsenal tweets.

But it is because we lack that technical on the ball quality in midfield. That’s why Calafiori becomes so important.
We need to improve the technical levels of our midfield and attack then, which we should be able to if we get 80 million for him on top of our transfer budget.

Will people be happy with 50m + TAA?

You're joking?

Under paying for one of the best LB (top 3 with Mendes and Hincapie)in the world and is also a great CB. Then on top of that, for a scouser who was the most dribbled past fall back in the league, on ridiculous wages and who would be our second choice RB? Makes no sense.

Considering the prices being quoted of PL players, that they just made a offer for 150m for a striker with 4 non penalty league goals; I am being deadly serious when I say wouldn't accept anything less than 120m. The only players I would even consider to reduce the rate is Courtois, Lunin, Paz, Bellingham and Enderick.I wouldn't want any other Madrid player near this club.

I love Calafiori but I'd take something stupid over 80m given his injuries. Anyway Lunin lol for what?

He’s a cheat code player when fit.

Very competent defender, build up specialist, can drive with the ball, good combination player and a big threat off set pieces.

Don’t be too fixated on numbers with him. His attributes are what teams will look at.

Madrid will have to pay a world record fee to get him, and tbh I’d only sell him if he wants to go.

We wont get anyone as good as him either as a replacement either.

Arsenal Quotes

A team can attack for too long. The most opportune time for scoring is immediately after repelling an attack, because opponents are then strung out in the wrong half of the field. All the men are expected to play to plan, but not so as to stifle individuality
