Arsenal chase Portuguese international keeper Ricardo:report

" English giants Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Sporting Lisbon to hire their international goalkeeper Ricardo Pereira at the end of the current season.

According to the private Portuguese radio TSF radio, Sporting have already begun looking for a replacement for 29-year-old Ricardo, who scored the winning penalty in Portugal's 6-5 shoot-out win over England during the quarter-finals of Euro 2004, the station said."

Ricardo is even WORSE than Lehmann and Almunia, trust me. I saw him play twice against Feyenoord in the UEFA-Cup recently, and his performance was awful. In Portugal they call him "Ricardo the Clown" or something like that.

Today we've actually been linked with of all people...Roy Carroll! Carroll as Arsenal goalkeeper is an extremely disturbing thought.

How do you rate Moreira of Benfica?

Moreira is not much better than Ricardo but is much younger and have already lots of experience. Is very bad with crosses. The best portuguese keeper still Victor Baia and the reason that he doesn't play for portugal is political!! He is a witeness in a case against the Portugal FA. I think the best keeper in the portuguese "SuperLiga" is the young brazilian Helton of U. Leiria.
