Thankful he took a day off from modelling and whatnot to actually play a bit for us, did well.

Look forward to seeing him again in like November 👍

Wish he has a long injury free period. He looks good at CB. Always been good whenever he's able to stay fit.

Looks like a special player when he has the licence to attack. Always seems to catch the opposition's defence off guard as well because they don't expect a CB rovering around their box.

Came on and decided to play as a left winger for the first five minutes. Actually think that contributed to us starting the second half strongly, created a bit of chaos and broke up the pattern.

Hope the long term plan is to have him as Gabriel’s successor but as mediocre as this first season has been he’s young enough to grow into the player he was at the Euros for us.

LCB is his natural position. Very good cover for Gabriel. Offers completely different qualities and can be used based on opponents. Time for Arteta to start rotating our back line as well.

Saliba has played +4,400 minutes in all comps this szn and likely similar last as well - is it any wonder he's looked off his game recently? I know Gabriel missing doesn't help but mental exhaustion is a real thing; seeing it with Raya too.

Arteta has to be able to sit down Gabriel and Saliba more often next season.

VVD is on the same minutes tbf… but I agree anyway he should get the odd game off. Harder to do this season because of Ben White / Tomiyasu injuries though. Although I have a feeling even with that Arteta wouldn’t voluntarily rotate his CBs.

That would be the response Arteta would give and it's a fair one - the best players play all the minutes (kind of) but at the same time I would argue that Saliba is still pretty young in CB terms.

I mean if this season hasn’t taught him the pitfalls of overplaying players then nothing will.

I believe in Calafiori-Kiwior-Zubimendi triangle to speed up our play. If we can get a better transitional attacker we will add a new dimension.

August 2016 -- Rob Holding, Coquelin, and Mo El Neny was like the Bermuda Triangle where football went to die.
